the location is very good, lots of history and the swinging chandelier with dust from 1500s a secret camera in the foyer sited under a chair looking out, not up I should say , it made me chuckle (is it for real!!) the Cathedral bells, very pleasant, the woman who held her lighter near the entry lock so I could get back in.

Put in the loft room not advertised like the grander rooms. The windows in the loft room are 6 feet off the ground and as so so are the curtains and curtain pulls, to open or shut windows or close open curtains you have to stand on a chair which is not good for someone over 65, but we did so the second night as the sun beams in at 6am. The bed is also designed for a lofty person and is very High and very firm, firm that blood circulation struggled in the legs, We are just not that accustomed to such a hard bed, but others might be. I thought that maybe a mattress topper would be good, but that would take the bed even higher It was up to waist Hight. There's no protectors on bedding and as so the mattress and pillows are not been protected between different guests which is a put off, non breakfast establishment, so why not a small fridge in room. ( I had my bottle of milk on a string hanging out the window and had to pull it and catch it as it fell towards me. The shower can only be used of a minute otherwise the water fills the tray ready to cascade over the lip if you go into the second minute, the toilet takes over ten minutes to fill. The bed has to be 10 inches from the radiator on one side resulting in burnt bottom or something worse when shuffling past! The main door has a coded lock to gain entry, so don't be like me and leave your phone in the room because your going to need a light to see the lock to get back in Lucky for me there was a woman smoking who assisted with a lighter..... So, unless your over 6feet 8inches tall, skinny and have webbed feet and eat a lot of carrots the room we were in is not for you. Oh finally, on leaving the building on Wednesday morning, I was presented with a gaggle of 6 or so people when I opened the door demanding to be let in, they thought I was the caretaker or something, I hid my half eaten croissant and they they just walked in in front of me...

A lovely small hotel, quite basic but perfect place to rest your head and spend an evening. The evening food was good and everyone very friendly. A perfect place to stay for a few nights if touring around or if you need somewhere to stay for work or an event.

I couldn't fault anything but I wasn't expecting a hotel with plenty of facilities

Excellent location, quiet yet close to central Oxford and to local shops, cafes and restaurants. Very comfortable, warm room and comfy bed. Restaurant and bar very convenient and good standard. Would happily return.

A fridge would have been a welcome addition. Mould treatment would be a good idea on the shower tiles otherwise standard of cleanliness was excellent.

Check in times were unclear and different on booking.com to in the hotel and our welcome was “you’re late” despite on a phone call telling them we’d be arriving within half an hour and we did. Two sandwiches and a small selection of cheese cost £37 which was surprising.
