The only way to leave a review is to first make a booking. That's how we know our reviews come from real guests who have stayed at the property.

When guests stay at the property they check out how quiet the room is, how friendly the staff are and more.

After their trip, guests tell us about their stay. We check for naughty words and verify the authenticity of all guest reviews before adding them to our site.

Breakfast was not an option. Porridge, coffee, tea and biscuits are available in bedrooms. The hotel was difficult to find because it is actually called The Gurkha Restaurant and there is nothing to show that it’s The Woodcock Inn. I drove past it as the SatNav instructions told us to bear left on Woodcock Hill, when I was already driving SW on that road. Obviously I could not look at my phone whilst driving, so could not see that the road splits around the restaurant and a few other properties.

Clearer instructions from Booking.com. I didn’t see any mention of the Gurkha.

The facility met my expectation. It was clean and comfortable and with a friendly and professional staff at the front desk. I believe though that £26 parking for the night was a bit much.

not charge £26 per night for parking

Great location with gorgeous walks. Welcome food was a lovely addition, with bread, milk, butter, cereal, tea, coffee and a lovely bar of chocolate.

Smelt a bit damp when we first arrived but possibly hadn't been used for a while. Bed side table on both sides of bed on top floor would be useful.

Great Central location. Everywhere within walking distance and close to tram stop. Staff very pleasant and attentive.

Some areas in the bedroom required a spruce up, ie peeling paint at the skirting boards. Certain rail loose at one side. Bedroom very warm.

1. Check-in was a terrible experience!!! Booking.com advised nothing to pay until u checked out. Whilst driving to accommodation, I had a call and text from the accommodation to say I had not paid.!! On arriving at the hotel, we were locked out in the rain.i had to phone a d text, the mobile phone no for the hotel and was told quite sternly that we had not paid.Nd would not get room code we.paid. we the. Had to fumble around and find bank cards to pay before we were given a code to the room. The explanation about booking.com that we did not.require to pay on arriving was ignored! 2. There was 1 toilet roll in the toilet and 2 coffee sachets and 2 teabags for a 2 day stay! How bizarre, I thought. 3. During our stay, I saw 2 different guests use a microwave behind d a locked door. When I texted the hotel to find out the code, I was told that due to insurance reasons, they could not let us have the. Code.

Large gap around door to room, didn't feel particularly secure. As a woman I never like staying in a ground floor room. When I arrived there was no one on reception and phone to call staff not working. Had to go and find a member of staff in the Toby Carvery - don't know what I would have done if it had been late and restaurant closed.
