This snug little place is a master-class in design, construction and thoughtfullness. Dr Who's tardis has got nothing on this place! It was spotless, everything worked as it should, easy parking and in a lovely location. You have to be a little aware of headroom when traversing the stairs but nothing too difficult even for a six-footer like me. Peter and Emma could not have been more helpful and welcoming. Marsden is a nice place too, with plenty of walking, near and far, and lovely cafs and pubs. From the train station, it's only 10 mins to Huddersfield or around 30 to Manchester. Access by steps only to both the platforms in use though.

A lovely pub, an excellent room, the place is within driving distance to the lakes, exceptional hosts, and excellent staff, we would definitely stay again!

Nothing of note, even the weather was kind. Nothing negative to say.

Everything about this cottage was top notch. The room was spacious and quiet. The breakfast had lots of choices and served with a smile. Great stay.

Sadly this is an old style hotel which doesn't benefit from the comfort of today's modern guest experiences. There is no temperature control in the room. It was stiflingly hot at night and cold in the morning. Shower was poor and the bath did not hold water. The room has a window, but it butted up to a wall inches away so there was no chance of opening a window or any natural daylight. Breakfast was overcooked both days by a chef who insisted on playing his own music on his phone so guests were subjected to the ambient music in the room plus his own tinny choice from his phone. (He was told to turn it down eventually by front of house) I had to stir my tea with a fork because no teaspoons were provided - really?? The Hudson Bar was the highlight although the wifi didn't work in there and it looked out over homeless people face planked onto the pavement. Finally, I really don't appreciate being forced to give a £100 deposit on my credit card (when I was happy to pay as I go) only to be told it would be refunded in around 10 yes TEN days! I could go on..........
