How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Mattresses of both twin beds in the room had sunk on one side, so you had to sleep in the 'ditch' and not in the middle. Surprising for such an up market hotel. Also, the sliding bathroom door could not close completely. Food we put in the fridge froze overnight.
Clean. Within walking distance to Civic. Quiet location.

Beautiful hotel with lovely heritage features. We loved the spa. Staff were absolutely excellent , from check-in to parking and dining. Fabulous view from the Howling Moon bar. Very comfortable and convenient location. Thank you for a lovely stay.

There was very limited parking on the premises and the function rooms meant there were a significant amount of people around the lobby and entrance not staying at the hotel.
Easy to find and easy to check in. Facilities were clean and comfortable.

Sometimes parking is difficult
I love the Rex, it’s always clean, comfortable and close to everything. I love how easy it is to book a wheelchair accessible room too! Most places you have to ring up and figure out if the room will work but with the Rex you can book an accessible room online that is clearly labeled as accessible

Parking! Hardly any spots on site for the number of guests that stay. Spots were also extremely small and tight or you had to park on the streets- limited parking there too. The room is starting to look tired- carpet worn, furniture looks old. Actually, for the price and number of stars, I expected better.
Bed was super comfortable, toiletries that were provided (shampoo etc) were nice, staff super friendly, aircon worked well, liked a variety of pillows to be able to find the most comfortable, room service was reasonably priced.

Would have like a better entrance to the undercover carpark and a lift from this carpark. Outside parking was not suitable for me as I was a single woman with no help to get my bags to reception. Also I would not have wanted to walk from my car at night.

Secure parking was not available. Breakfast in the past was not good, so we didnt bother this time and ate out.
We travelled to Canberra to spend Easter with our family. The smiling staff were very helpful especially with my mobility issues and booked us into a disability unit which made the stay more comfortable for us. The unit itself was very clean, the bed comfortable and there were plenty of toiletries to make it feelmore luxurious. Thank you Rex Canberra, we will be back!

Blankets were too hot for the time of year and wifi was terrible.

A little far from restaurants and shops if you don’t have a car
My room was super clean, not even a single hair on the floor and water stain in the shower, the bed was very comfortable as well. Will definitely stay again next time I come to Canberra
