Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandThe hotel is quite old and would really require some renovation to meet today's "standards". It's like travelling in time to be staying there ;-)
The hotel is ideally located between the Torrent ski resort and thermal baths. The rooms are very large, which is ideal when you have skiing gear.

FranceOnly some of the rooms had been recently refurbished, but the other ones are still OK.
Excellent location, close to both the "communal" SPA and to Alpen Therme. Also walking distance from the main street with sops and most restaurants. Very big rooms (only one type of room, that can host up to 3 persons). Clean, good breakfast and friendly staff.

United StatesInternet is often spotty or weak in signal. The reason we were given is that too many people might be using but it’s the same in late night. Should get it fixed. Parking should be cheaper for guests staying at the hotel.
Good location, close to Torrent cable car and restaurants and thermal spa in town center.

SwitzerlandOld windows and old traditional heater made the room cold. It was partially compensated by warm bed covers, but not so ideal for a 3y toddler who kicks away all blankets. Stove in kitchenette did not work.
Very big room, clean, comfy beds, warm covers. Nice and helpful staff. Kitchenette with proper fridge and quite big parking.

Czech RepublicOverall, it might be renovated. There was a rusty water in the kitchenette, probably as it has not been used much, so we rather used water from bathroom that was ok. Wifi working in some rooms only (not in the one, otherwise very nice view, at the end of the corridor).
Once it was a rich hotel :-) Friendly staff, close to therme, spacious room.

SwitzerlandI really didn't have any issues with our stay. I was very satisfied. I will list the less positive things... The noisy bed structure led us to put the mattress directly on the floor (we did not ask for another room since there was enough space and this felt like the perfect solution for us). Sound insulation is not the best but since the hotel was not full I believe there was no one next door and it was OK. The heating is enough but the room does cool down during the night. We should have taken a warmer baby sleeping bag for our son who cannot yet stay under the bed cover. If you like it really warm then you will have a problem. I place it as negative due to the environmental impact it might have.
Very friendly staff and great restaurant. Very nice breakfast buffet (several types of bread, cereal, jams, slices of hams and cheese). Warm drinks and eggs on request. Tasty dinner and good value for money menus. Spacious and charming old-fashioned decor. Spacious room. Garage with internal access and good parking spaces. Short walking distance from the Thermal baths and the center with many different restaurants (not too much even with a 1 year old on our shoulders/arms). A nice doable walking distance to the gondola going up to Gimmi.

SwitzerlandFor breakfast you have to hand in a form the night before ticking each item of food you will eat. This is then delivered to you at your breakfast table, no helping yourself allowed. The staff work hard and run around but this still means you get the cheese ten minutes before the bread and that comes ten minutes before the coffee. And if you get the number of eggs wrong I assume you get fined. The rooms are ENORMOUS and our double already had an extra full size bed but could have easily slept six. It’s a shame that they don’t offer rooms to accommodate a family of 5 because that would work perfectly, maybe it’s against the rules to have three children. In summary, if you want a “swiss chalet” experience where Swiss hospitality and decor has been adapted to an international clientele, go elsewhere. But if you want the true Swiss experience, the Hotel Astoria is for you.
This hotel has been renovated top to bottom with incredible attention to detail, neglecting no cornice, wall covering or upholstery, some time back in 1970. Nothing is lacking in terms of Swiss chintz, starting with the Stasi style rectangular concrete exterior, through to the tapestry mounted lamps in the entrance hall, the harlequin carpet in the corridor, the two tone beige carpet in the room, the contrasting orange tiles with a scattering of apricot, carrot, and tangerine embedded chips in the bathroom and the similar style in the kitchen - this time in brown, taupe and tan. And then there are the leather studded doors, the six different types of surface coverings including a woven basket orange effect on the ceiling through to the matching raffia style brown and beige curtains and chair cushions, with the intermittent cork wall paper for a bit of variety. Nothing has been forgotten here and it has weathered well through the decades. The most wonderful contribution is the ultimate chindogu to be found in the toilet. A toilet roll holder which DOUBLES UP AS A HAND TUNED FM RADIO (and which, by the way, does not actually function). This is completely amazing. The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly, and very detail focused, down to insisting that we write the birthdates of every single member of the family on the registration form. To their credit they chased after us to make sure we had the guest card with the discount for the thermal baths, but this was offset by the fact that on the final bill a charge appeared for parking in the exact spot where we had been instructed to park (no warning of a charge given). We were given towels for the thermal baths but also accosted at 10:30 pm to be told that one was missing - just hadn’t been handed in yet.
