How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Loved the facility, lotsa room, wonderful to make my own tea to wake up/warm up, and the staff was responsive when I was stuck in the flat. 😀

Getting in for the first time can be tricky, as you have to use your phone to get in. I was luck I had a phone with internet service to unluck the door for the first time.
I like the location, I could go to the university through the woods, listening to the birds and smelling the fresh air in the morning, nice sunsets.

There are no shops nearby, and bus access during the weekends is limited.
Very cosy and well-equipped apartment (washing machine, microwave oven).

Opening and closing the doors. there was something wrong with the automatic key system I had a lot of difficulties going in and out of the room

It’s quite distant from the city centre but i was aware when i booked

After the first night, we couldn’t open the door from the inside. We needed help, to whom we handed the key and released us. It would be better if we have english instruction about the door locking. The English description would have been good for the use of both the washing machine and the dishwasher, because the faucet is different in our country, the water is not closed separately.
Well equipped apartment. It was pretty clean. Good location. The wifi was also perfect. I can recommend.

The lengthy and repeated rules about how to behave were rather intimidating. Not everyone rents an apartment for a party! We appreciate quiet and respectful behaviour too. We couldn't use the oven as we couldn't find the instructions...
The facilities in the apartment were more than sufficient. Well stocked and thought through for real people. It was nice to have spare crockery and cutlery for example. The beds were comfortable.

Located on top of a hill might be challenging to access on foot or by bike (unless you like some cycling challenges) but easy if having a car.
Very clean, modern and cozy apartment. The kitchen is well equipped, there is a microwave&oven in one, dishwasher, washing machine and a freezer also. The apartment is suitable also for a long term stay. I recommend it.

That it is very far from cheap supermarkets and the train station. There to be transported by taxi and taxis are expensive, not very good heating

It is a bit far from groceries. The heating had trouble catching up with the sudden cold snap when I was there so I got sick when it became quite cold one night. The cleanliness of the tableware is not guaranteed and appears to be dependent on how through the last resident was. The internet is a bit slow, around 10 megabits.
The bathroom had in floor heating! The small studio is well equipped for long or short stays. Having a washer in unit is very convenient. The induction stovetop is quick to heat up. There is a kettle and a combined microwave and convection oven.

They ask their guests to enter their registration information on a website. This is not acceptable from a privacy point of view. I do not enter my address, birth date, passport number ... on a random website - no idea who has access to the data and who will use it.
The place is clean, I could not get the door to open and a person to help me was on site within minutes

The bed is put close to the open kitchen. The fridge made terrible noise also at night. In my case, I could not sleep at all.
The location is good. The apartment was clean and modern.

to be fair, i do not usually travel on a low budget, and although i did not enjoy my stay it was probably reasonable value for money. it would help non Finns if there was a bit more information in English. location was poor in that it was too far away from the centre to walk into town, although again this reflected the relatively low cost.
most extras such as washing liquids etc were provided
