How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Somewhere a fuse had blown in the night and phone and laptop hadn’t charged, also TV and Kettle didn’t work. When told staff they just explained that some foreign guests use unsuitable devices causing fuses to blow. Had to charge phone and laptop in breakfast room, which delayed me in the morning from my meeting, as needed devices charged.
They’ve fixed lifts and installed new taps and showers to dated rooms, good improvement. Good options for breakfast.

The rooms could be a little bit more clean and the furniture updated.
Hotel Arthur is perfectly located 10 minutes walking from the train station and 15 minutes away from the city center. The rooms were nice, the beds were clean and overall considering the location and the price this hotel is perfect for a few days in Helsinki. The breakfast was great too.

The bathroom, whilst clean, could have done with modernising.
The location of the hotel is excellent - within walking distance of everything in central Helsinki. The hotel offered good value for money and the inclusive breakfast was very good.

Lady's response at the reception such as: 'I already told you!' when I missed the first answer because simply was tired. It was not very much polite. The hotel looks like standing in the corner when you see the picture on booking.com The entrance in fact is far away around the corner. It was heavy raining, was not easy to find the entrance because it was no sign of it.

Nothing to really complain about.
Location is on a quiet street a couple of minutes walk from the city center. Easy to find, friendly staff, welcoming reception, clean, tidy. Room was clean and simple, yeah decor might be a little 90's but it's irrelevant to me as it's to serve a purpose such as sleep and shower. The room was clean and well maintained. Breakfast was plentyful and a good variety of choice. There is secure storage for you to put bags, if you want to explore Helsinki before leaving for airport/train etc. Would stay again

Main room light is behind the curtain, so the room is dark when curtain is drawn. I had to keep all other lights on in the evening.
Good selection for breakfast. Also, it was worth booking to use the sauna.

Excellent beakfast, broad choice of foods with fresh vegetables and fruits each day. Perfect location for business trips walking distance to central train station and bus stops.

We liked everything. Nothing to complain about.
The location is super central to everything, including train station. We walked towards the train station and took us less than 10mins. Also, we did our check in early as the room was already ready, and we checked out early as we had an 8am flight, and they gave us breakfast to go with us :) this never happened to us ever so it was nice ! They are very responsive to messages, and the staff is super friendly and polite and always with a smile and the rooms are clean. We will definitely go there again for our next trip to Helsinki.

The bathroom and the structure overall very old. The bathroom was smelling as well. When we arrived the receptionist just informed us that we were too early without even checking whether the room was available already anyway. We did breakfast there and then over my request, the two ladies who took over the shift, told us that the room was indeed already ready so we could have also avoided standing in the lobby for 2+ hours.
Good breakfast included in the rate Location was Perfect!!
