Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe choice of excursions on offer should be explained to guests on arrival so that they have time to consider them and choose the ones of interest. Guests should not just be told what had been planned for them. In other words, there should be an excursion menu, and the Lodge should try to accommodate all wishes within reason.
A truly lovely, stylish lodge in a magnificent location run by a very professional attentive team.

United KingdomWonderful location on a ridge with fabulous views. Lovely rooms with large windows to take advantage of the views. Cederberg mountains are very beautiful and well worth visiting. Delicious food. Very friendly and helpful staff. Wide range of activities including visiting the rock art, hiking, going out in the boat. We booked an all inclusive stay which is definitely the best option.

United KingdomPersonally weI would prefer slightly older children around when we are on holiday as too many young children in a group can disturb the quiet romance and relaxation of a place like Cederberg Ridge (especially in the pool). We were disappointed that the sunset cruise wasn't on offer, which we were most looking forward to from the all-inclusive option. In the end we only did one excursion out of a possible seven over the four days of our stay as some of the trips were a bit too long and it was extremely warm!
The food was excellent, especially the breakfasts. We stayed over Christmas and both the dinner on Christmas Eve plus lunch on Christmas Day were very special. Staff were on a different level in terms of service! Nothing was too much effort and they genuinely wanted us to have the best experience! We received different treats every day - home made ice creams, cakes, chocolates... Fresh flavoured ice cold water on tap plus two full bottles of complimentary water every day. Scenery is beyond beautiful. On the last evening we returned to our room to find the bath full of steaming water and bubbles, with lots of candles placed around the bathroom. Just so many lovely touches. We stayed in room 11 which is on the far end of the lodge and it has it's own little pool and seating area with a double day bed which was lovely.

United StatesI didn't entirely understand how the resort worked before coming (the activities options, etc), which was probably mostly my fault because I was busy before going on the trip and didn't fully review the materials they sent us, but I also think it could be clearer on their bookings.com page.
Gorgeous property and friendly staff in a beautiful region of South Africa. The design of the resort (big windows, etc) really help you appreciate the natural beauty. The food was delicious and we really enjoyed the emphasis on the local productions - wine, rooibos, etc.

United KingdomNothing all exceptional.
Simbavati Cederberg Ridge is absolutely stunning and in a beautiful location. This is our 2nd visit and again the staff were friendly and welcoming. The chef comes out in the evening to explain the specials and the food is even better than I remember. Beds are super comfortable and the rooms are clean and fresh. The guides for rock art and Rooibos excursion are extremely knowledgeable .

GermanyWe were not entirely happy with our Superior Suite #6: It is right next to the pool and the restaurant and offers little privacy. No bath with a view without other people being able to view into your bath haha. The room is still very beautiful, just keep it in mind and ask for another room if you want uninterrupted privacy.
This lodge is exceptional. The rooms, the common areas, the surroundings in general - everything is so so beautiful. The staff is attentive and friendly, the food is delicious, the views are just awe-inspiring. We recommend staying for at least 2 nights to enjoy this beauty to the fullest.
