The road to the venue has potholes. Fine for us in an SUV, may be tricky in a small sedan.

The braai area would be better if it faced the incredible scenery.

Amazing location with incredible views. Bit out of town so very peaceful. Host was very friendly and helpful. Loved the hot and spacious shower. Generator for loadshedding during peak periods. Well equipped kitchen with some nice extra touches like the homemade rusks and sherry.

We have traveled thousands of kilometers, staying at numerous different accommodations, and this is by far THE BEST place we've ever come across. This place has everything you need and more. Perfection is an understatement.

I wish I had booked for longer.

It was big, homely and had everything we needed. The view!!!! Took a long soak in the tub. The eggs were yummy. The recommended hotel had a chilled vibe and yummy food. The owner communicated beforehand with the number to call on arrival, and met us at the house.

The only thing I didn't like was beyond the control of the host - serious potholes in the surrounding roads.

Location was superb. Host was both patient and very helpful. I will return if possible.

Very little to dislike, lots of potholes on the route to the place but has nothing to do with the place on its own.

The view is breath-taking, the veranda was sheltered so we could enjoy the view even in the rain. Everything we needed or could think of was provided. My personal favourite were the zebras and bucks that came at twilight. it was a magical experience. Host was very hospitable and helpful.

There are no restaurants real close, so be ready to prepare your own meals. This is not really a negative, just something to be aware of. The road to the Maloti-Drakensberg Park, that is the road that brings you to the lodge, is in a bad state, repair work is on the way.

Staying out on a farm in a rural are does have it's charms. The Lodge offer pretty much all you need. The closest shopping is in Engen Sherwood Service Station, there is a Spar there as well as a nice coffee shop in the property next door. I got to the lodge in a rain storm, so I used the fireplace in the evening, it felt wonderful. The kitchen is well stocked. Even a French Press for making coffee was there.

This perfect farm getaway remains true to the heart of the midlands. It boast spectacular views and the accommodation itself is has a tranquil and cosy homely feel with quirky farm touches. Just a beautiful and peaceful rest away from "busy". The views and time in nature was food for the soul, slow living with allot of options to make the most of your day. Beautiful hikes, boating on the dam and fishing...interacting with the animals or just sitting on the stoep drifting into the scenic rolling hills with a good book. Peter and Jane' hospitality was remarkably warm and welcoming, as were their attention to the small details...From the warm personal welcome, the courtesy homemade shortbread, freshly laid eggs, rusks, farm milk, fire ready fireplace (just light the match) and the offer to have the kids pick eggs and feed the horses. It's like visiting family who really want to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Cherry on the top, wifi and a back up generator for loadshedding...

A truly exceptional unit in an exceptional location.The views are simply stunning. The peace and tranquility unmatched. We were treated to fresh farm eggs, milk and other goodies. The loads of space and beautiful fireplace made us feel like royalty. Our host was attentive and it was a pleasure to communicate. There were some things left from previous guests. I don’t know if the cleaners open all the drawers and throw things out.

The views are absolutely amazing. When I first stopped at the unit, my breath was taken away by the valleys and the mountains. Really loved sitting on the porch just staring out at God’s creation. The host was really friendly and made sure I was comfortable and restocked the fireplace with more wood after I’d burned through the first batch. Loved the fresh eggs and milk that he left. Very quiet and tranquil spot.

Maybe a heater as some family members were from warmer climates.

Spectacular view. The space is well equipped. There were farm fresh eggs and milk, tea, coffee and sugar. Enough privacy for both families. So peaceful.
