Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaWifi in the rooms need a serious upgrade especially if you are catering for people travelling for work. Room number 27 especially was struggling to even connect to the internet to send emails. You offered the public area (dining area) but that closes at 9m and we were returning from the conference after that time (which would have meant sitting outside in the veranda in the cold trying to catch up on the day's work. Please look into upgrading your wifi connectors.
Really friendly staff - very warm and welcoming. We stayed 4 nights as we were attending a conference nearby. The first night we had dinner at the hotel and the Chef was on point. I had a curry and my colleague had the steak - that Chef is really good. Rooms as exactly as per the picture. Big and spacious with pleasant decor.

South AfricaElectricity kept going off for short periods despite no loadshedding. Stove and oven are gas though and so we had no issues with cooking and hot water was fine too. WiFi signal is weak outside of public areas and limited to 500MB per day. The view from our chalet was of the playpark and the view of the lake was mostly obscured. Some other chalets had better views. Games room needs a refresh. Actual views of the Berg are definitely not the best.
We stayed in the self catering chalet. It has two bedrooms and sleeper couches, bathroom with shower en suite; and bath + shower in 2nd bathroom. Plenty of hot water. Kitchen was well equipped. Serviced every day. There are lots of activities to keep all ages busy - golf, tennis, rock pool, second hotel pool, jacuzzi, darts, snooker, table tennis and bike track and playground for toddlers and small kids. Quiet and relaxing. Some chalets have nice views of the lake. Restaurant offers decent food - burgers, pizzas, etc; and there is a bar. We didn't try the breakfast. Spa on site. Friendly staff. Value for money

South AfricaThe bed cover was dirty (but they assisted and changed it quick and cleaned the whole unit). The alcohol at the restaurant is way overpriced.
It’s very quiet, a lot of fun amenities and very friendly staff. I enjoyed the pool and trampolines. The view of the mini lake was beautiful. Would definitely go back

South AfricaIsn't anything specific. It is one of the older berg resorts so an upgrade will be due soon and maybe just a bit more attention to detail around the neatness of common areas.
Lovely resort, rock pools and the putt putt was great fun for the kiddos. Great cosy dining area serving up the most delicious meals.

South AfricaFood and Facilities We enquired about the Alacarte menu and was told we could have it on Sunday night. When we arrived for dinner we were not allowed to order of the Alacarte menu and was given the option of the buffet, pizza or a cheese burger off the greens menu. The buffet was terrible. Kids had the burger and the pattie was sour. A absolute rip off. The kids Facilities need repair and upgrades. Trampolines need the springs covered. Some steps of the slide need to be repaired. Jungle Jim rotten in some places. Jacuzzi was broken.

South AfricaThe pools all were looking dirty. The rock pools were very hazy and made it difficult to see whereabout the steps where. The result was that many of us ended up misjudging the steps and hurting ourselves our scratching ourselves due to this. The pool by the dining areas was also very dirty and lacked the characteristic blue colour. The jacuzzi was out of order - this really should have been working especially as we just coming out of the peak holiday season. Rather disappointing. Food was very limited - some of the curries were tasting quite bad. Slow refilling times on the existing buffet. The waiters did not adequately explain the procedure for kids who did not eat the buffet supper and they were more confused. The lack of adequate toiletries for a family of 4 had me asking the reception for additional quantities for which they had to then get approval. Even the toilet roll supplied was only 1 and we had to request more. No hairdryer in the room and no instructions of how to get one. Same with iron board. Bath towels supplied for the room of 2 double beds was only 2 so the disconnect here needs to be looked at. The rock pool overflows onto the grass every time somebody (even a small child) jumps in. Wastage of water and constant overflow of water led to complete mud and swampiness around the pool which makes it difficult to walk around.
Breakfast on the first morning was good. However there was hardly any variety for the kids to eat. I would definitely recommend the property to cater to more kids menu as well as usually families travel with kids and have to be included in the menu. The location was good although some potholes in the road. The view was good as it is quite close to the Drakensberg mountains.
