Harford House seems to be trading off its former reputation and the overall standard of service is not as high or attentive as you would expect. Lack of management presence and insufficient staff training are probably responsible for this situation. Rather unfriendly messages on signage and the check out protocol was not guest focused in attitude.

Very peaceful country location with nice scenic views when out walking. Very well appointed and comfortable rooms with everything you need. Excellent 6 and 4 course dinners. Breakfast was equally varied and tasty. Justin and his team were brilliant in the kitchen and Justin was visible at dinner and breakfast to ensure everyone enjoyed the food.

Connectivity was a big problem for us as we took a small reprieve from our working week but because we own our own businesses, were still required to be on call and available. Comms were very poor, even the Wi-Fi was terrible.

Everything is just perfectly heavenly here

We are repeat guests at Hartford House, and our experiences are on another level, cuisine is super delicious, service exceptional, the staff go over and above to make us feel so special and every need is catered for. The ambiance, the property, is 10 stars. We love this haven. Justin, the sous chef, is beyond talented and a beautiful human being. Nicky the massage therapist is the best. We left refreshed, recharged, and relaxed

Nothing not to like! Everything you’d expect from a 5 star establishment. Staff wise;we did however ask for an early check in and they wouldn’t have us check in a minute earlier than 2pm. Also, while we waited for check in , it would have been nice for the staff to have offered us activities to do on the farm. We weren’t sure where to go / what to do. A map of the premise / farm would have been nice.

Tasting menu great, the a la carte menu offered was dismal and lacked imaginative options for dinner at an establishment of this uniqueness if tasting menu not selected. Tennis court non existent. The glass jar offerings at breakfast to economise were out of place.

Beautiful gardens, romantic setting, exceptional property. Outdoor swimming pool well maintained. Beautiful well decorated, very comfortable rooms. Reception area, lounge and dining room well laid out, welcoming and beautifully decorated.

Breakfast excellent! Location: the road, of several km, from Mooi River to Hartford House, is in awful condition. Recommend 4x4, or at least SUV for access.

Sibusiso, Simo, Zama, Pinky and all the staff were very friendly, helpful and pleasant. Additionally, Chef Keegan made special changes to the tasting menu based on Halaal dietary requirements. The staff really took our trip to a whole new level.

This house and stud is the most fabulous place we've ever stayed in. Totally gorgeous beautiful decor, huge rooms with a magnificent mix of antiques and modern comforts. 5 star gourmet dining. Wow!!!

The dinner service each night was quite long as a set menu is on offer. We did the set menu one night and a la carte the next. But a la carte also takes quite a while and seems timed to the set menu service. As a suggestion it would be nice to have some trail maps for walking and biking around the property. We found it difficult to know where we could go to get some exercise and explore.

Decor was gorgeous and so were the grounds / farm.

The location is gorgeous, with beautiful manicured gardens and fields. Our room was fabulous, clean and comfortable, topped off with amazing views of the dam and green fields. Perfect for lazing about. We really enjoyed the holiday. Moreover, the food was delicious, the a la carte menu has a thoughtful selection of dishes. The property offers a 4 course or 6 course seated dining experience with a different menu each evening. The food is tasty, bursting with h flavour and plated beautifully. Bonus point, most of the desserts were gluten free or were tweaked to be gluten free for me and they were delectable.

They unfortunately forgot about our dinner platter to be delivered to our room. Fortunately the lunch was big so it wasn't the end of the world.

The attention to detail, the decor and the food were outstanding. The chef Justin is amazing and we had Christmas lunch as well which was outstanding. Overall a beautiful hotel. They also phoned us to check we were home safely. Going the extra mile.
