The place was completely what we were looking for in the Berg and more : peace, tranquility, privacy, opportunity for hiking and very close to the border with Lesotho ( ideal for Sani Pass tours, all organized and you are picked up from the cottages) . The place gives a very authentic yet comfortable experience of the mountain life, with comfortable bads, great shower, option of cooking gas or an electric stove, fire place and generous arrangement for extra wood, decent Wi-Fi connection in selected spots. Great hospitality, just the right balance of genuine care and availability without being intrusive. And you get fresh, most delicious scones every morning. We will definitely go back.

I would have liked to know that there was no WiFi available because didn't have signal either but it was a good stay.

Cozy. And very welcoming. Loved the fresh scones in the morning. It was a beautiful touch.

    Not a thing....

We had the most delicious scones delivered. Hot water bottles that ended up not being necessary, as the cottage was so wonderfully insulated. The view was wonderful! Quiet, clean, beautiful and a lovely hike. We loved every second and hope to visit again

Our wood for our braai/woodburner was a bit wet. Otherwise it was all perfect.

Perfect peace and quiet, a lovely cottage, Stone cottage. Very comfy bed and the woodburner in the lounge heated the whole cottage beautifully.

Everything was perfect, could not be improved upon!

Everything about the accommodation is excellent, we could not have asked for more, super clean warm and comfortable beds, super crisp white linen and warm duvets on the beds, there were lots of lamps etc. supplied in all the rooms to cope with the load shedding, including a two burner gas stove for emergencies. freshly bakes scones are delivered daily to the cottages, please remember to bring your own butter and jam to enjoy them! \The kitchen is very well equipped, and our cottage overlooked the dam so we had super views, wonderful bird watching opportunities. I would recommend Coot Cottage

Betty, the hostess was just lovely! And the fresh scones delivered every morning, despite load shedding challenges(!), were delicious and aa absolute spoilt! We loved the personal history of the place too and the location is just stunning. I'd highly recommend this spot!

Parts could do with some maintenance but that's a minor quibble.

Mkomozana is a quiet, peaceful haven on the Sani Pass road. It's a beautiful location in the mountains. The manager is very friendly and helpful and the scones in the morning are to die for!

The bathroom door latch was difficult to close and open so we used a piece of carton between the door and frame to close which was easier. The bathroom window did not have a latch so we had to close the window because of the baboons and therefore the bathroom could not be ventilated before we went out for the day.

We loved the tranquility and being surrounded by mountains. Betty gave us a warm welcome and gave us advice on restaurants and activities. It was great that the Sani pass tour vehicle could pick us up at our accommodation and that we did not have to travel to Underberg to join the tour.

Lack of WiFi reception in the rooms. There is poor phone reception, but you have to consider that you're in the nature and a very rural setting.

We liked the history behind the place as well as the peaceful setting. The Bar area was very unique and inviting. The host is very friendly and helpful and we got freshly baked scons in the morning. :)
