There was barely any cellphone reception which is great for checking out of normal routines but is challenging if anything goes wrong. Given the lack of adequate reception we found the staff on the farm relatively inattentive. For example, we sat in the car for half an hour in pitch black darkness trying to call the staff when the gate was not working. No contingencies were communicated. This cottage is very remote, if you don’t have a 4x4 you’re in for a highly stressful drive. I would suggest that there are conditions under which the cottage is completely unreachable for ordinary vehicle clearances.

The view from the porch is extraordinary. There is a majestic valley overlooking river with pine forests in the distance. The sound of the river greets you every morning and the main bedrooms face the sunrise. There is so much nature to enjoy walking around the farm. The cottage was well appointed with nearly everything you might want for a reasonably lengthy stay. If you have sufficient food there may be no reason to ever leave…and the boardgames were a welcome surprise for our group.

The owners installed a new gate and didn't give us the code. The cellphone towers were not working and we were trapped and nearly missed a very expensive private tour. Luckily through WiFi the lady who manages it managed to do a WhatsApp call but it caused a lot of stress. Otherwise no complaints.

Excellent location and scenery. Quiet, beautiful and you can truly relax. Highly recommended.

The main bedroom could have benefited from a wall heater / an oil heater and the one electric blanket in the same bedroom wasn't working.

What a beautiful setting! Comfortable rooms and ample hot water for the whole family. Kitchen was well equipped too. Victoria took great care of us during our stay. We will be back.

Like a home away from home, can't wait to bring our dogs back again.

We didn't realise the fourth bedroom is upstairs and that it isn't closed off to the living area, so with 6 adults from different households in the house, one had to stay upstairs in the open room which wasn't ideal, but it wasn't the end of the world either as the upstairs bedroom is still very cosy. There is a very sweet farm dog on the property, which we also didn't realise when booking the holiday, and while we would have loved to have made friends with him our dogs aren't great with dogs they don't know. However, Thembie was very helpful and made sure the farm dog didn't come to the cottage while we were out walking with our dogs, so it wasn't an issue at all. It would be great if there were some proper hiking trails around the farm. We managed to walk where the cars and animals have made their own paths but a proper, maintained hiking path around the farm would be perfect for taking dogs for a nice, long walk.

We had an absolutely fantastic stay! Thembie is such a sweetheart and was so incredibly helpful and accommodating throughout our stay. As far as the accommodation goes, it is a really beautiful home, and it has everything you could possibly need for a relaxing stay away. Starting with that stunning view from the cottage looking over the river, they really placed this cottage in the most ideal setting on the farm. The private garden is divine and the bench overlooking the whole view is a really serene spot to have tea and just unwind. The lounge is really comfortable, but we spent most of our time outside on the patio looking over that awesome view. The bedrooms are great, the beds are so comfortable and they have blockout lining on the curtains for excellent rest. They are also well soundproofed so you can barely hear anything happening outside of your room. The kitchen is very well stocked with cutlery, crockery and cooking supplies. They also have books and board games in case you forget to bring your own, and a TV upstairs if you want to watch DSTV, but with so much to enjoy just being outside in nature that wasn't necessary for us. The best part of all is that they are pet friendly, we booked this holiday specifically to take our two dogs away and they had the most incredible time as well. We were thrilled that the whole garden is completely fenced off so you can rest well knowing your pets are safe and secure throughout the stay. The river is so close you can walk down to cool off every day. We had a really great walk exploring the farm on our full day out, then we went to the waterfall and had a swim on the way back, and we went tubing in the river to finish off the day. As I wrote in the guest book, it was actually heartbreaking to leave, I feel like a month's stay wouldn't be long enough let alone a weekend. It really felt like a home away from home, and we honestly can't wait to visit again!

I would recommend you get more beer glasses or long glasses. It was enough for the 3 of us. But if we had to book with 8 people, the glasses wouldn't be enough. Other than that, this house is a absolute gem.

There was not enough counter space in the kitchen. It would be a great asset to have a wheelable chopping block in the kitchen. It would have been fabulous to take a beach chair down to the river to sit and enjoy the riverbank whilst my grandchildren swam and played. But wasn't that essential.

We loved the location, so close to the river. We loved the space, which was comfortable and clean. Thembi, the lady who welcomed us, was so very accommodating and friendly. And very thorough. The house was absolutely 💯 clean and tidy. We took a drive up the hill to the right of the house for an absolutely stunning sunset sundowner. What a magnificent view of the Drakensberg mountains. There are two beautiful shallows nests on the porch, which was so lovely to see and we felt so privileged to see that.
