Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaThe hippo tour was great and the tour guides were very nice but I do think the they could have given a bit more information. There was really only information if someone asked a question.
This lodge was beautiful and the staff when I was on site were very helpful in trying to figure out a ride for me to Sodwana Bay. I didn't realize how far the lodge was driving wise from Hluhluwe, but fortunately found out they had a ferry from False Bay. This shortened my ride costs and gave me multiple boat trips on St. Lucia! I even got to join a star gazing event at night! Food was very good! I would stay here for longer than 1 night in the future. The sunrise on this lake was spectacular!

South AfricaI thought the food menus were limited, breakfast was disappointing in that you could only chose one item. The swimming pools were out of use, we should have been advise upfront, we overheard another overseas couple discussing this & had they known that would of chosen a different resort. Still trying to establish why I would want to use the ferry & if it was working, no one at the resort could answer this & called three times prior to our stay.
Chalets were awesome with excellent privacy. Setting was tranquil.

South AfricaThe property gets a 10/10 for me facilities too despite the flooding and the pool not working. However, the food! Needs some major attention! This is the reason for a lower review score on my end! 1. serving old mussels is not ok 2. taste what you make; a. burnt granola being served at breakfast with odd stone like pieces. b.serving raw chicken at the boma c. dowsing french toast that has bacon and cheese in with so much of syrup (100ml) that you can’t eat it! Food and menus should always be created and tasted by management and both dining staff and chefs- so people understand what they are cooking and serving. So management needs to up their game here! Otherwise perfect hideaway
absolutely breathtaking! the views from each of the rooms of the lake is stunning- that undisturbed peace. The sound of the waves breaking on the shoreline day and night to lull you to sleep. appreciation of nature, the amazing walkways high above the ground

The tranquility of the area, lovely spacious chalet. Very clean. The staff was very friendly and went the extra mile Enjoyed the boat cruise to see hippos and birds though it ran 1hour over the allocated time

United Kingdomthere was construction at the time of my stay which was right by the restaurant. the first morning they were working while I was trying to eat breakfast which wasn’t relaxing and I drove a long way to go to Nibela to get a relaxing stay away. luckily they waited for guests to eat before starting construction after that. construction has to work around the hours of the guests, for example meal times at the location of the construction.
the individual chalets because then I don’t need to hear the noise of my neighbours. the views at the chalets were to die for. the meals were excellent and the staff were very friendly

we were spoilt with room 211 de lux. Wonderful view of the lake ( experienced a wild and wooly thunderstorm with sound and flashes reflected by the water- magnificent. To our surprise simply a private dining experience with two flaming fires in pots overlooking the lake. Best rump steak I have ever had!!

South AfricaThe drive leading to the lodge is not nice. At some point we thought of turning back. I wish some work can be done on the gravel road. Huge road signs from the city centre could help.
The kitchen staff reserved our dinner when we arrived after dinner times. And may I add that the dinner was excellent, infact all the meals. The reception staff kept checking on us and directing us when we got lost enroute to the lodge. Our safety was made a priority.

South AfricaThe photos used were for a different room with a much more substantial view than the one we were given. Which is very misleading, the photos supplied to you are for the superior chalet and not the double. I then had to pay more to occupy the room I had “booked” for one of the two nights I booked for. I then had to move again to the self catering to get the view I had originally paid for, again for a fee. The food was subpar at best. Only the set menu is available in the evenings. I’m not a fussy eater by any means but the food was terrible. On both evenings at least one dish was completely inedible. Prawns not deveined etc. Subsequently, 2x separate friends of my wife has asked her if the food had improved. As they choose to stay in the self catering to avoid the restaurant food. Overall it was a let down for my wife and I, we’ve got two small kids so rarely have the opportunity to go away. This little trip was to celebrate our anniversary. We both left Nibela feeling hard done. Worth mentioning that the spa is beautiful, but only one therapist means we could not get any treatments together. So we chose to forego it. We booked the false bay outing but were told 1hr before it would not be possible due to rain from 3x days earlier. The waitering staff are lovely, warm, and happy to help. We got the impression there is a distinct lack of guidance from management or involvement. Lastly even trying to pay the extra amounts for both evenings was a hassle as I was asked to wait 45min before the could generate my invoice. Then had no working card machine for me to make payment. Checking out to 90min. My wife and I won’t be back.
The setting, location and the potential it has.
