The pathway going down to the unit was steep and jagged. Was just difficult for me with a leg problem.

Everything was wonderful!

Beautiful view over the river, with modern amenities, decor and fittings - perfect for a few nights away, with all you need to self cater. Lots of helpful communication in advance, including directions to the property and provision of the load shedding schedule for the duration of our stay. Great recommendations from Leon on where to have a meal and drink too!

The only thing I can think of is that the hot weather and load shedding (not the fault of the property) forced us to have the windows and door open to get a breeze. Whilst there weren’t many mosquitos, there were some, so insect screens on the windows etc would have been nice. That said, insect screening seems to be uncommon in South Africa, whereas, coming from Australia, we are used to seeing them on every window and door everywhere. Only a small thing, but the only negative I could think of.

Clean and tidy, with everything we needed, even a braai (bbq). We spent a lot of time on the spacious deck, watching the passers by on the Bushman’s River below. the bed was very comfortable, and we had a very relaxing few days.

This self-catering unit was all we were looking for. It was situated near Kenton, on the river, best views in the Eastern Cape. It was clean and had everything we needed for the weekend.

Guest are not allowed, we traveled from Port Elizabeth and have childhood friends in Port Alfred, so they were very excited to see us and we invited them for dinner and we were told no visitors are allowed (mind you it was two people,a couple) and we did explain that its people we haven't seen in ages and we were not going to be loud nor make a party.After numerous explanations and begging the owner allowed us to host our guests until 19:00. This was very unpleasant cause we had to do all this in front of our guest, which made them feel unwelcomed. I believe in such places they should allow guests (especially if it's two people) and have a fixed time stating that guests stay until 21:00. Otherwise the place is lovely.

As a family from a city, we really enjoyed the peace and quiet along the riverside. All the necessities were provided by the host, meaning we did not have to travel with a lot of luggage. We loved how private it was as well. We’ll be staying at this location whenever we find ourselves in the area again. Love! Love! Love!
