The best location for being in the Natal Midlands. The choice of breakfasts was extensive, different and delicious. We asked for our room to be changed to a garden view and it was done with minimum fuss and lots of help. All the staff, from reception to cleaning to dining room are helpful and put in the effort to make one’s stay comfortable.

Nothing worth mentioning.

Good size room. Unfortunately no real view. Rooms with garden view preferable. Lovely pub with friendly and warm atmosphere. Staff and patrons alike. Closest to a genuine English pub (before the current so-called gastro pubs) one can get in RSA. Wonderful beef and Guinness pies. Breakfast also excellent. Wife said best eggs benedict she's had in a long time. Overall great stay.

Cleaners were not prompt with bedding. We slept on bottom sheet twice regardless of mosquito bites bleeding marks, bath towel on second day was left on the floor but hung back onto the rail. Top sheet removed on third night. Not major concerns but things to address.

Location, loads of surroundings to visit. Like Mandela capture centre and Drakensburg mountains. Quiet and peaceful area.

The staff were ineffecient, reasons being: 1. We requested a certain room, it was confirmed however the room was given to somebody else. 2. Dinner seating had to be booked, we were not notified of this, the 4th person we spoke to were able to make a plan for us. 3. The waiters operate almost as if they didn't get any training.

The food was magnificent. We had pizzas for dinner, which was supurd and the breakfast was also super nice. The establishment is very neat and has a lekker vibe.

There was nothing that I was unhappy with. While there isn't much to be done about it, there was rather a sewerage-like smell wafting across the grounds, but the happiness of being there made our stay worth while.

The bathroom was a bit cramped and pretty basic. Nice shower but no bath.

The meal in the restaurant was excellent! We had the Guiness pie and calamari with mixed vegetables. We enjoyed the pub as well.

Old style family hotel with busy restaurant, bar and warm fireside experience - very central to Midlands Meander tourist routes so possible to visit range of tourist sites from cheese and beer tasting to environmental trails and farms.

WiFi away from the reception, pub and restaurant areas was sketchy at best.

The Nottingham Road Hotel is a funky, old-fashioned, wood-paneled place, staffed with easy-going enthusiastic young people. It is easy to find, conveniently located, and with large grounds and ample parking thereon. Show up on a Friday or Saturday and it will be immediately obvious that this is the local hotspot, gathering a crowd from far and wide. As American visitors, we had a fun-filled evening watching the South Africa vs Ireland Rugby World Cup match, when the house was filled to overflowing with enthusiastic patrons, decked out in suitable Springbok attire. No thirst went unquenched, and over 150 pizzas were served that night, I was told later. "All were had by a good time", as they say. Excellent comfort food and service too in both Notties Pub and on the restaurant side! Notties Pub gear is available for sale in the reception area. Highly recommended!

Looking a bit run down on the outside but nothing a lick of paint wouldn't sort out - breakfast at 07:00 didn't happen till about 07:30.

Nottingham Road Hotel is a classic, the heart of the KZN Midlands. The pub and food is the star of the show, stop in for a good hearty meal from the kitchen or a classic pizza around the bar, with a Guinness in hand. Even the locals know this is the place to go.
