Beautiful, well appointed bush stay for a stopover or a few days

We could hear the vehicles on a road about 500 meters away, but it wasn't enough to distract from the bush experience.

The setting of the house is in a smallish reserve, surrounded by lush forest. We enjoyed the well equipped outdoor kitchen. It is roofed so we had no problems during a rain storm. The aircons in the units worked well in the heat wave and the communal pool was a life saver. Unit was clean with good beds. A bonus was a complementary guided night walk to search for bushbabies, scorpions and chameleons. The marked walks within the reserve was great for bird watching and seeing game on foot. Lots of birds and small game. Great staff made us feel more then welcome.

    Our stay was too short!

We loved that the cottage was self sufficient with bush views. It had a big bath and comfy bed, and there was a lovely walk way to the Roof Top Bar with Honesty Bar . The forest and bush walks were beautiful and great to be able to walk in the wild among the non-preditor wild life, and be part of Kuleni eco-estate. Good location as close to False Bay and Hluhluwe Game Reserve.

Wifi in room didn't work (but there's Wifi close to the reception which works fine). The sign for the lodge is easy to miss from the main road (the drive-off is right next to a big white building with a distillery / restaurant). If you love nature you'll love it here but if you are the type of person who feels uncomfortable at the sight of an ant this is probably not for you as it's in the middle of the bush and you might find the occasional critter in your room.

Super friendly host. Everything clean and in good shape. There's a really good restaurant nearby (5min drive) where you can grab breakfast / lunch / dinner. They also have small trails on the property and also a nice sunset patio where you can grab a drink from an honesty bar. The lodge is in the Kuleni Game Park and you're basically in the middle of the bush. Our host was very knowledgeable with all things nature and excited to share with us. Super nice that he showed us his collection of snakes (and very informative)! Would definitely stay there again.

I know it's difficult but maybe a note on the cottage door telling us of the loadsheding times.

What a lovely cottage we stayed in. So much space. The bed was sumptuous!! Bathroom had a lovely corner bath and walk in shower. Surrounding very pretty.

The rooms are big & the beds are comfy, but the units need a little bit of TLC and updating. The 1 outside light on the walkway is very bright and shone right into our kids room, either need darker curtains or the angle of the light needs be changed/moved.

The game ranger (DeWet) was very knowledgeable and extremely accommodating, he took us on a night bush/bug walk which the kids loved and so did we! The outdoor kitchen is an experience that the kids enjoyed, eating outside under the stars 🌟

There was no writing desk in the rooms, although there was a table at the outdoor kitchen and at the deck. The traffic noise was loud and slightly spoiled what was otherwise a very nice place.

The unit was large and comfortable for two people, nicely spaced away from other units and surrounded by forest. Wonderful view from the upper deck and the honesty bar was great for a quiet drink.

2 plate stove too old and weak for the cast iron pots . Wall plugs needed adaptors instead of usb and twin plugs sockets. The fridge and bar fridge does not get cold enough.

Despite the foresty feel and relative remoteness, it is close enough to a national road to sometimes hear the traffic. Outdoor kitchen was a bit rustic.

Large rooms with aircon, foresty feel with lots of birdlife, spotted the red duiker a few times as well as resident bush baby. De Wet and Ingrid were very helpful. Accommodation was serviced. De Wet went the extra mile!
