The award-winning Bridge Inn is set in the picturesque valley of Wasdale in the Western Lake District. It offers real ales, home-cooked food and is 15 minutes from Scarfell Pike, England’s highest mountain.

We really enjoyed our stay and the breakfasts and evening meals were amazing! You also get a table reserved for you every evening for dinner which was a nice touch. The rooms are comfortable and were always warm and towels and tea, coffee, hot chocolate replenished every day. This is an ideal place for Scafell pike walks. Definitely would stay here again.

With stunning views of the surrounding fells, The award-winning Strands Inn, Screes Inn & Strands Brewery all sit in the heart of Wasdale Valley. All rooms are en suite and traditional Cumbrian food is offered, along with cask ales brewed on the premises.

The location is amazing. Be mindful this is a secluded village but that’s the beauty of it. Lovely walks, views and hikes. The owners were lovely and so welcoming. They took care of everything. Everything was well set up before we came and that was beautiful. They were stretched for resources but everything was planned so well, we didn’t feel it once.

Lovely place - with lovely grounds. Make sure you pay a visit to the Castle and the gardens - well worth it. The staff were friendly and showed us where everything was. Nice cafe on the premises too - and of course the cracking Owl Sanctuary - beats a visit to a shopping centre everytime!

Ian and Sarah are very attentive and accommodating, cook a fantastic breakfast and just clearly understand exactly what people might want and need for a relaxing and lovely stay. They are full of local tips and have decorated and furnished the rooms in a really stylish yet homely character. Wish I could have stayed longer! Ravenglass is a fantastic location, too - quiet, calm and beautiful views onto the estuary and sand dunes.
