Situated 1.5 km from Takayama Station, Iroriyado Hidaya is a recently renovated 4-star accommodation in Takayama, boasting a garden, a shared lounge and private parking. It is located 2 km from Hida Minzoku Mura Folk Village and features luggage storage space. The ryokan has parking on-site, a hot spring bath and full-day security.

The location is about a 20 min walk to the central area and about a 30 min walk to the Hida Folk Village so the location isn’t too bad if you’re planning to see both. The staff is beyond excellent, extremely polite, friendly and welcoming. We had the Japanese breakfast which was really delicious. I loved how big our room was, it was all well worth the stay.

The hotel feels ever so slightly on the older side, but in my opinion that works in its favour, as it adds to its charm. Everything was styled as a proper ryokan, the whole hotel has tatami floor. The top level open air Onsen is just fantastic, looking over the city (it was snowing very heavy while I was there, which made it even better). The breakfast buffet is also like a Japanese Kaiseki breakfast, amazing! Staff were also very friendly and polite like most places in Japan.

The place had so many great extras; private onsens, complimentary tabi socks, a very good breakfast, free ramen at night. The hotel provided the full Japanese-style experience, with shoes left at the lobby and yukatas to wear, but also had a decent amount of padding in its futons. The staff were very accommodating to my non-existent Japanese.

This Ryokan has a “luxury” and modern feel to it. It could easily be branded as Aman or a Rosewood Hotel since the upkeep and products / amenities used are of very high quality. The room was incredible and very tastefully designed; a mix between dark and light wood. Beds were super comfy, amazing Yukatas to wear around the hotel. Small private onsen and 2 semi private onsen with great Mountain View. Dinner and breakfast were incredible and only high quality and seasonal ingredients were used.

Special place that is part boutique hotel, part ryokan. Great value and 5 star service. Traditional Japanese Ryokan with nicely decorated rooms. This was my first Ryokan experience and I have never felt as well cared for as during my stay there. Futon was very comfortable, too (I have never slept on one before). Staff is very attentive and helpful. Great inhouse onsens. Yukata were available for free for guests. Many ammendities were available for free and I loved their shampoo. Takayama old city center is just a 15 min walk away. Takayama station is just 6 min away by foot.

Vegetarian traditional breakfast was offered upon request! We loved it and our whole stay at this traditional Ryokan! The Onsen is not too hot (still hot haha) and super relaxing. There are even two private Onsen available free of charge (min. 2 people). The rooms are very beautiful and quiet and you’ve got the opportunity to wear Yukata during your stay. Staying at Ryokan Asunaro is an authentic experience. Our comfortable room, wearing the yukatas, sleeping on the futons, the kaiseki dinner and breakfast, the onsen - was all so enjoyable! The staff are very courteous and friendly too.

Food is the highlight here. Both of the breakfasts I had were wonderful feasts, with warm dishes cooked on little burners at the table. One had crab, beef and tofu stew, eggs, bacon, sausage, all in one meal. The onsen are great. Staff are friendly. All the usual trappings of a Ryokan are here, sandals, tatami, yukata, keys with huge blocky keyrings

Beautiful Japanese Inn! The room was spacious, and the futon was comfy enough to asleep. Free drinks available downstairs and for the breakfast. Onsen was small but well maintained. This Ryokan is old but the shower room and toilet were all renovated and super clean. Staffs are very kind!
