This ryokan was the highlight of our trip to Japan. Excellent seasonal and varied breakfast options, with an attention to detail unparalleled in my travel experience. The soaking pools met our hopes and needs perfectly, and we preferred the private rooms to any of the town’s public onsens. Our room was very comfortable and quiet, and the location was great—away from the hustle and bustle of the main square. Staff were incredible—helpful, welcoming, and friendly despite our limited Japanese language skills! Would highly recommend for a quiet, peaceful stay.

It was a beautiful stay and our first experience at a ryokan. We were made to feel very special from the moment we arrived, until the time we checked out. The meals were lovely. Lots of interesting things to try for both dinner and breakfast and dressed in the provided yukatas. We loooooved our private onsen in our room and also tried two of the three private onsens on site which can be used by any guest pending availability. Beautiful views! The town is also lovely but be prepared for the sulfur smell from the hot springs!
The Onsen was gorgeous, clean and well organised with an efficient and easy to understand system. The staff was exceptionally friendly, welcoming and helpful, and spoke English very very well. The rooms were beautiful and super warm (even while there in the snow you did not have to worry about rugging up). I loved the classic wooden ryokan set-up and tatami floors with futons. Futons were also made for you each night while you were out, and packed up for you after you left in the morning.
This ryokan was truly beautiful. The room was very spacious, warm and clean. I loved the Japanese style rooms. The Ryokan kindly let us store our luggage there both before and after our check in/check out times and all the staff were extremely welcoming and kind. The private onsen was also beautiful and the Kaiseki dinner and breakfast was absolutely delicious.
Staffs are polite and attentive and can communicate well in English. I requested a reservation by specifying the room number I wanted to go to, they wouldn't confirm it with me but in the end they arranged the room as I wanted! The onsen hot springs were great. The atmosphere was nice and quiet in nature.
Kaiseki meals in elegant dining room were superb.Good English support in the dining room. Very central location. Futons were OK when double layer of 2 futons was used. Could open the window for fresh air. 30000 yen for Friday night, 39000 yen for Saturday night for 2 people including amazing meals. Room old but clean. Size comfortable but not big. Very quiet. Modest private bathroom and toilet appreciated. Quite nice hotel onsen.
Beautiful views, warm welcome, comfortable futon, and overall nice japanese style room. I loved the yukata that we received, and I was extremely happy with the onsen. The lobby area is very nice, i appreciated that we could leave the luggage there. The area itself is also very enjoyable and walkable, and the accommodation is also close to the station.
Charming inn with comfortable beds. Tea and wagashi provided in room upon arrival (the tea is available for you to make yourself). Two private onsen baths available on site - it's a first come first served basis, but we had no issues with that and were able to enjoy a private bath each day. Breakfast was a delicious, traditional meal. If you are not used to Japanese breakfast, you might find it a bit odd, but if you go in with the expectation to have a traditional breakfast, you will not be disappointed!
We loved this place! Large tatami room with futon beds (note that you will have to make your bed which is common in Japan). The common areas are wonderful with many places to seat and relax, or work (desks and tables). The shared kitchen was large and super clean with everything you need to cook. The onsite Onsen was fantastic! One indoor Onsen and one outside, which was amazing! Staff was nice and friendly.
4 free shared indoor Onsen baths with their own themes. Also premium shampoos and conditioners offered. Bean themed welcome sweets and breakfast were colorful and delicious. Close to Yubatake and the Kusatsu Bus terminal. Lovely updated old inn with tatami. Staying at the inn gives you a discount at the affiliated confectionery store next door
