This ryokan was the highlight of our trip to Japan. Excellent seasonal and varied breakfast options, with an attention to detail unparalleled in my travel experience. The soaking pools met our hopes and needs perfectly, and we preferred the private rooms to any of the town’s public onsens. Our room was very comfortable and quiet, and the location was great—away from the hustle and bustle of the main square. Staff were incredible—helpful, welcoming, and friendly despite our limited Japanese language skills! Would highly recommend for a quiet, peaceful stay.

The breakfast and dinner was absolutely lovely to experience, with an amazing assortment of different dishes that seem small but are very filling. The rooms stay warm even though it is freezing outside, and the onsen is absolutely lovely in the weather. There are people who speak English that make you feel right at home, and give you very precise instructions on how to get to the onsen from your rooms. Staff are wonderful, please come here if you can make it!
