This place is magical. One of the highlights of our 3 week Japan trip was staying at Ks. Everyone was friendly, the room was spotless, the communal areas were clean and well kept and the onsens fabulous. We had a family room and all slept very well on tatami mats and futons. We used both the private and public onsens. The room is spacious and the outlook over the stream at night is sensational. We were fortunate to be there when they had a fireworks display on the beach which was awesome.There is also a washing machine and dryer for 500yen which really helped having a family of 5. If you are looking for a traditional stay and a truly memorable experience this is it.

Situated 1.5 km from Takayama Station, Iroriyado Hidaya is a recently renovated 4-star accommodation in Takayama, boasting a garden, a shared lounge and private parking. It is located 2 km from Hida Minzoku Mura Folk Village and features luggage storage space. The ryokan has parking on-site, a hot spring bath and full-day security. We absolutely loved our 2 nights here. Our room was so spacious and authentic, also I loved the lobby and the onsen. The people who work there are so amazing I don't know how to describe it. When we left a couple of them stood outside and waved goodbye...we stopped at the red light for quite some time and when I turned back they were still standing there next to the entrance still waving till we disappeared - simply unbelievable :)

Breathtaking view, soothing hot water that is all mine-just-mine! The room was spacious and extremely comfortable, they have thought of everything really. Equipped with both a kettle and a coffee machine, multiple hair drying-styling equipment and amenities. The teppanyaki dinner was delicious and included gourmet choices of ingredients and drinks. Staff were extremely attentive and polite. A stay to remember for life.

The 3-star ryokan features mountain views and is 700 metres from Gero Station. The ryokan offers rooms with air conditioning, free private parking and free WiFi. EVERYTHING. The dream come true in a ryokan (and affordable). I truly love the private onsen. It was bliss. The room, the yukatas, the ambience, the fact that look like is brand new construction but in a traditional aesthetic. A dream.

Set 9.1 km from Shuzen-ji Temple, Yumeguri no Yado Yoshiharu offers 5-star accommodation in Izunokuni and has a garden. Ideally located in the Izu Nagaoka Onsen district, this ryokan provides a terrace, as well as a hot tub. The ryokan offers rooms with air conditioning, free private parking and free WiFi. Large place with different corridors which makes it feel a little mysterious. The dining room is very nice with a nice garden view. Food was excellent. Onsen was very good. All in all, nothing unique but a very very good ryokan.

Facing the seafront, Izu Hokkawa Seaside Guesthouse 伊豆北川の家 is a ryokan providing a 2-star accommodation in Higashiizu. It features a private beach area, garden and private parking. The property has sea and inner courtyard views, and is 35 km from Shuzen-ji Temple. Featuring family rooms, this property also provides guests with a picnic area.

If you would rather not eat out, you can make use of the kitchen facilities. The ryokan is located in a geothermal area, with a number of hot springs nearby for guests to relax in. Very nice spot, staff was very kind with good English and offers rides to Akazawa Onsen. Also had a few tips for the local area :)

The nearest airport is Nagoya Airport, 70 km from the ryokan. This place was a hallmark of Japanese hospitality! The host Masaya-san was quick to respond to any questions I had over text, and scheduled a driver to pick me up from the station when I arrived, and dropped me off at Magome for my hike the next day. He was extremely thoughtful in ensuring the logistics of my trip were fully taken care of, and at no point was I left feeling lost. He also prepared dinner and breakfast which were diverse in local seasonal ingredients and absolutely delicious! Not to mention the compound and house itself is full of history and charm! Will definitely stay here again if I return to the Kiso valley.

34 km from Shuzen-ji Temple in Higashiizu, Bousui offers accommodation with access to a sauna, hot spring bath and hot tub. Amazing romantic gateway. 10/10 Friendly staff. Amazing dinner and breakfast. Relaxing. Amazing bath.
