Halvard Hotel, hotel in Douglas

Located in Douglas and with Douglas Beach reachable within 100 metres, Halvard Hotel provides concierge services, non-smoking rooms, a restaurant, free WiFi throughout the property and a bar.

My husband and I have stayed here last year and returned once again as it's our Go To hotel in Douglas - it is very well located on the seafront, has exceptional cleanliness standards and although officially rated a 4 star hotel, there are touches which elevate the client experience to another notch upwards such as the inclusion of slippers in your room, super fluffy white towels including Face Cloths/Towels(!) and a generous and complimentary mini bar. However, on this visit we met Peter who is one of the Managers and whose customer service is just amazing. Peter is very professional, patient, friendly, totally focused on making customers happy and feel at home, explaining all the services and offering ideas for places to eat and other activities and was a joy to interact with. What an asset to the hotel he is!

The Penta, hotel in Douglas

Penta offers accommodation in Douglas. Complimentary WiFi is provided. All rooms have a private bathroom and a flat-screen TV. For your comfort, you will find free toiletries and a hairdryer.

A friendly and helpful young lady who was in charge greeted us on arrival. Nothing was too much trouble for her during our stay, she made sure we had a pleasant stay. Super large rooms with comfortable bed and good-sized bathroom. Spotlessly clean throughout. The breakfast room was decorated in a French style, which was very pleasing to the eye. I had the continental breakfast, and this was most adequate. Great location, good local transport from outside the front door. Highly recommended, I will most certainly stay here again.

Plenty to see and do, including in evenings (theatre, cinema, music). Good transport links (ferries, airport, around the island). Easy to get around in the town. Enjoyed the beach and promenade, and quayside. Nice places to eat - friendly and welcoming.

Douglas is lovely, it is clean and we loved wander8ng around the streets. Good signage to find your way around but also nice.to get lost for a while. We walked around Douglas and used the buses, steam.and electric trains to get around the island. We had fish and chips while walking along the sea front and ate small plates at Frank Matchams. Loed it

We know the Isle of Man very well and although Douglas has suffered through the current financial crisis, it is still a good city to visit. The museum is free and very informative. The tour of the government building likewise. It is easy to get around the city and buses to other parts of the island are plentiful. There is a range of restaurants to suit every pocket and we also cane home with Isle of Man kippers. People are friendly, including the lovely staff at the Hydro. I would always encourage visitors to make Douglas a base and travel all over the Island. Peel, Ramsey and Castletown all are worth a visit and offer differing aspects of the Island.

Douglas is a seaside town with most places in close proximity to each other; the ferry terminal and Tourists Information Centre, the shops, cafés, pubs, banks, museum, and the two seafront theatres. The Villa Marina is a large theatre and cinema. The Gaiety Theatre is a smaller and most charming old theatre. Further down the Seafront is The Palace Cinema. I enjoyed a good film there. Comfortable seats. There a nice chippies around the town. The bus route Douglas to Ramsey along the coast road has stunning views. The other main towns are quick and easy to get to on bus, and the airport too. That's just half hour away.

The staff especially Cindy in the front Office was exceptional good, very helpful, friendly, made Comis Home from Home, she had good knowledge of Douglas that made our visit memorable and tour of the Isle of Man worth it. Food was excellent quality of high standard, accommodation was spacious., clean and cleaned daily. Location was cental to the city and various visitors sites. Cozy hotel located quite conveniently in the middle of the Douglas coast promenade. The bus stop is just a 2 minutes' walk, just like the convenience store. The apartment we stayed at was clean, quite spacious, had a nice view of the hills and the sea and was well equipped - a cooker, dishwasher, oven, microwave, fridge, kitchen utensils. We only missed a washing machine. ;-) The beds were a bit soft, but stil comfy. The breakfast was partially a buffet and partially served full English breakfast.

Comfortable, well-adapted house hotel near the waterfront of Douglas, close to bus stops and some good restaurant options. Single room was small but well-organized. Staff was friendly and welcoming, as well as particularly good at communicating when I had a late arrival. Breakfast options were extensive and good-quality. With an early morning departure, staff kindly provided me with a bag of food since I would miss out on breakfast. Lots of tourism information was available in the main hall.

The is a great location along the promenade with easy walking access to the beach and a longer walk to the shopping and restaurant area. The hotel's restaurant was good with a nice buffet breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The offer a High Tea but you have to reserve 24 hours in advance. The staff was very helpful. We took the local bus from the airport to the hotel, it stops right out front; and a taxi back - very easy. Make sure you say "Hi" to the fairies when you cross the fairy bridge. :-)

Steve and Maria were excellent hosts- warm and welcoming. The breakfast was excellent. The bed was incredibly comfortable and perfect after a long day of exploring. The B&B is well placed on the Promenade in an excellent location. Glenfaba is excellent value for money. This was my first visit to the Isle of Man but it won't be my last. Next time I'm on the island, I'll stay at Glenfaba again. Thank you for your hospitality, Steve and Maria!

The hotel was very comfortable and we were pleased to have a family room that had two bedrooms, a lovely bathroom, and a kitchen set which included a fridge and microwave. This room is only suitable if you are able to negotiate the flights of stairs to the third floor. We felt it was very worthwhile and were comfortable and had a great view. Highly recommend. We didn't realise that there was a games room in the hotel which the kids loved!

All of the staff were very friendly and keen to assist. Breakfast was good and was served at the sister hotel, next door but one, which also has a bar. The hotel is located just off the sea front, where there is a convenient bus stop for frequent buses to and from Douglas city centre, the Sea Terminal and the Airport. The same buses also serve Castletown and Port Erin.
