Spectacular stay at Umkumbe! Reception by our guide Shannon who accompanied us on our morning and afternoon/evening game drive. Together with Ford (on the afternoon/evening drives), she managed to not only show us the big five up close and at length but also a Cheetah and other small mammals. We even got to enjoy a chameleon which Ford spotted with his ultra night vision. As Shannon would say : "It was awesome!!!" Also during the daytime Shannon was at our beck and call and even arranged a massage for me, which was given by Anna from Zimbabwe who has golden hands and I could feel she did her job with love. One of the best massages I ever had! The whole resort is perfect and we highly recommend it! We will miss the rollercoaster game drives with Shannon at the wheel. She is an expert driver, tracker and gives loads of pertinent information about fauna and flora. Thank you so much from Johan and Hilde!

Everything - from the moment you arrive you are taken care of to an exceptional standard. During my stay Sam was the manager on duty and he was brilliant. In addition to the unique location, the service is what really sets this place apart. The staff were all local which I really appreciated - always ready to help with a smile. Great park, amazing wildlife, fantastic experience. This being said, it is not a zoo! Don't expect to see all the existing animals in the parc! Some are easy to spot and other not so much, this is real animal kingdom and it's difficult to say who is watching who! Sun sets are also amazing with beautiful colors. Vegetation is small but dense(bushes). According to our guide it is easier to spot the animal during winter / dry season. Bushes hve less leaves making easier spotting animals and the animals gather around the water spot. During summer it is the opposite. Bushes are more dense and r'there is water everywhere making animal spotting more difficult. So an advice: winter is great for animals but of course temperature are lower so be prepared for low temperature and bring some warm clothes.

Very good upmarket hotel with well equipped luxury rooms and facilities. Dinner and breakfast included in the rate and both were exquisite. Friendly and helpful staff to assist from the moment you arrive till the moment you leave. If you’re thinking of booking this hotel, stop thinking and do it. The accommodations were absolutely incredible. The staff was so friendly & helpful. We took 1 game drive with them and it was a 200/10. Our guide, Elvis, did everything in his power to help us find the Big Five & I’ll never forget him & his knowledge. Let me just say I thank God for nature, I love how the environment of Skukuza is so clean. I enjoyed the game drive with our amazing driver Lucky from Buschbuckridge lodge. There was some delay in the pick up from the airport which we had requested. Apart from that the stay was well beyond expectations. The staff was ever smiling, polite and eager to please. Skukuza in the Kruger park is amazing, as is the whole park...
Skukuza in the Kruger park is amazing, as is the whole park really! We saw the big 5 in 3 days of self driving with kids (8&9) and stayed in Berg-en-dal rest camp for 2 nights and the Kruger Gate Hotel for 2 nights as well, to see a different part of the park. The restaurant at the hotel and Skakuza rest camp we’re both lovely. As a tourist though, in SA, you should always be vigilant when travelling especially with all your stuff.

The quality of the rooms is amazing (I stayed in a room off the train and inside it was actually even better than the carriages - only missed out on the view and novelty). Food was also fantastic and service very friendly. The pool/bar area is a breathtaking place with constant hippo views while we were there and fantastic bar service. The best thing was the game drives - Sizwe was the best, charismatic and took time to show us stuff he knew we'd be interested in.

It had beautiful interior, it was super clean, barely any insects, the host was reachable and responsive all the time - without a doubt I would come there again! The place looks almost better than in the pictures and cleaning was done every day. Also, this place is within a protected space from the Kruger Gate Hotel and you can use their pool and restaurant if you consume something there. Thanks again for having us, it was amazing!

You can see wild elephants drinking at the river in the evening when you're sipping a cocktail at the pool. There is a large choice of food for breakfast and in the evening there is also a buffet. It is a calm and peacefull hotel with kind staff. We booked the safari tour from the hotel 2 times and were very lucky. Our driver was kind and helpfull.
