Mthatha is a beautiful town filled with warm and friendly people. I stayed at the Garden Court, and I had a wonderful experience. The hotel is exquisite with friendly staff, and I look forward to visiting Mthatha again in the future.

Accommodation is closer to town, there are cabs.

Mthatha is a very diverse city; it has wealthy areas and of course, very poor areas. There are some nice restaurants and shops in Mthatha. It is a very crowded city and it always sad for me to see the amount of stray and homeless dogs running around the city, foraging for food. I usually dread driving through Mthatha because of this, but in some instances, it is the quickest route home.

Yoo! this is very difficulty to explain I have no problem with Mthatha but the accommodation we were at. There was one guest from East London who could not stay longer as he too said he was not happy. in eatery places. It's easy to get around because we were using the GPS.

The Nelson Mandela Museum is well worth a visit.
The Nelson Mandela Museum is well worth a visit.
It is different and captures something local rather than the national figure.
The gifts and paintings etc given to Nelson Mandela are good to see, although there are rather a lot of statues, some a bit amusing!
We would have liked to see the museum at Qunu but it was under renovation. This suggests that it may be worth visiting in the future.

The best tip I can ever give to anyone is not to pay...
The best tip I can ever give to anyone is not to pay beforehand, my experience was disastrous at Sunset Guesthouse advertised to be at Sidwadwa when it’s at Zimbane and I was not refunded for not staying over. If you can, opt to pay at the property. Do not be like me and trust booking.com for quality, they list even unkempt properties.
A warm welcoming by sis Bongi, before we even arrived checking us at what time are we gonna be checking in, sending the location. When we arrived doing the orientation, for each and every room up to dinning place. The rooms are very clean, comfortable beds with, extra warm blankets and electric blankets. Thank you so much sis Bongi, next time we come again to Umtata definitely we gonna be sleeping at Shoes guest house. Such a lovely place
We booked online at blue banana n when we get there they told us that they are fully booked and they take us to some filthy hotel which we didn't even book at, and they gave us the room we didn't pay for, they gave us the cheap one, we booked blue banana and unfortunately we had to spend our days at the hotel we didn't book at😭blue banana is a scam, they jc love money, they dnt care about their client
The whole property is beautiful, the room is spacious and has a couch and a comfortable bed. The bathroom is absolutely beautiful
The lady who manages it was very friendly and kind. it’s still a fairly new property but the service was exceptional. I will definitely be staying here again when I’m in Mthatha
A home far away from home. Big UPS to the staff, so friendly and welcoming always willing to go the extra mile for your satisfaction. 5 star hospitality, great wifi, nice rooms but above all it's the staff that make the stay worthwhile 👍👍👍👍👍. Best place to stay in mthatha
The property is beautiful and has been revamped from the last time i visited the hotel. The staff and service offered exceeded my expectations I would recommend the Garden court to anyone who is visiting Mthatha and the surrounding areas.
Secure, clean and comfortable - cant ask for much more for an overnight stop in Umtata.
Load shedding troubled us though, as there's no generator, but a small battery operated emergency light ensured we were not totally in the dark.
Clean and neat. The place is beautiful. Great location, walking distance to the mall and restaurants. Amazing food by the Hotel restaurant. Breakfast is exceptional and a variety of meal options. Great stuff! Helpful and Hospitable.
The place is very neat, talk about value for money. If you are a person that's looking at staying in a comfortable self catering apartment don't look any further. This is where I'll stay every time I'm in Umtata
This hotel has interesting decor. Each room appears to be furnished differently in really bright, funky colours. The bed in our room was super comfortable and the aircon worked well.
