Easygoing and green in both senses of the word, Nantes is the gateway to the Loire Valley. On a delta between the Loire, Erdre and Sèvre rivers, this once important port is now an innovation pioneer.
A former shipyard, the Île de Nantes in the Loire now houses bars, clubs and restaurants. However, its most intriguing feature is the Machines of the Isle of Nantes, a collection of weird and wonderful mechanical sculptures – you can even take a ride in the elephant.
Across the river is the moat-surrounded Chateau des Ducs de Bretagne, a fortified castle and former home of Breton Dukes. A few streets away is Nantes Cathedral, whose façade is reminiscent of the one in Reims. Place du Bouffay in the historic centre is home to many restaurants and bars, while 19th-century shopping centre Passage Pommeraye houses a range of stores over 3 grand levels. For a taste of daily life head to Talensac market.
Other Nantes attractions are the Japanese garden at Île de Versailles in the Erdre, the former shipowners’ houses at Île Feydeau, and the Jules Verne Museum, celebrating the city’s most famous son.
Don’t head to Nantes Airport from your Booking.com hotel, apartment or B&B without having tried the local speciality – crêpes. Delicieux!

Public transport is excellent, and free at weekends!
Public transport is excellent, and free at weekends! We had excellent fish and chips at Brady's Pub near the Station. My favourite place to visit was the Elephant and Le Jardin Extraordinaire. Nantes has managed to reduce traffic in the centre and make it pleasant to walk everywhere. I walked over 70 Km during a 2 week stay at 75 years of age!!!

The Chateau of the dukes of Brittany is a first class tourist attraction a two minute walk from the hotel. There is an excellent museum of the history of Nantes and an unmissable exhibition about Genghis Khan. There are no translations from the French - but Genghis Khan has an English audio guide.
We also enjoyed hanging out in the Botanical Gardens also a short walk away.
Nantes has amazing public transport with five tram lines. They are free on Saturdays and Sundays!

I went by train specifically to visit an exhibition at the Chateau and the hotel was perfectly placed both for that and the railway station.
The restaurant I had chosen proved too far for this weary traveller. I ate near the Chateau at La Loco (recommended by the hotel). Largely a fish menu; what I ate was freshly prepared and perfectly cooked.
The hotel and room was very clean. The staff was very helpful. The hotel was within walking distance to the city centre ( 20-25 minutes), you can also take the tram , which is just near it if you prefer not to walk.
We stayed in a room for 4 adults, with a king size bed and a double sofa for my children. The room had a kitchenette with all necessary appliances( dishwasher, cooker, microwave…).
Note that if you are staying in Nantes between 14/07 and 15/08, you can park free in the street near the hotel, as it is in the yellow zone.
The hotel is conveniently located near the train station if you are arriving by train to Nantes. A short walk to Nantes' center with several restaurants just around the corner. Rooms are OK with all basic services included.
If you have a car, there is outdoor public parking very close to the hotel that is reasonably price (€2.50-€3/night). Just be sure to look for Chateau parking vs. Gare Chateau parking (€20+/night).
It has been so comfortable , clean, delightfully arranged, quiet, safe, in the centre of the town, everything we had hoped to have. We loved our stay. We are so grateful for all the kind assistance of Elodie
Our trip here was to visit my nephew who lives in Nantes (doing a PhD). He came to the apartment one evening and cooked for us and we were able to appreciate how lovely well sourced the kitchen is.
Excellent location at the end of the historical centre, but half way to the Island of Nantes so perfect to explore both.
Staff was very kind and helpful, they organised the early check in for me, gave some useful tips.
Room was very clean. Basic, but above 1* it holds.
Reception is not open whole night, but you can easily enter with the door code at any time.
Very cozy and clean hotel in a quiet district near the centre of Nantes. Bus stop to the centre is located 5 minutes away. A beautiful city view, a clean bathroom, a comfortable bed and a small kitchen desk included. You can leave your luggage at the reception after check-out and go sightseeing.
Ideally located to visit Nantes, within walking distance of many city centre attractions and plenty of public transport on the doorstep.
Staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
The facilities are basic but the room was clean and comfortable, and the buffet breakfast plentiful.
Nice little apartment with views over the river. Well equipped kitchen for such a small apartment, enough to prepare breakfast or small meals. Very friendly staff and very good (although a little bit expensive) breakfast. Good location to walk to downtown Nantes.
Great location. Just outside the centre of Nantes - a 10 minute walk and 10 minute tram to centre of town. An oasis of calm, right by the woods. Had everything you needed. Four of us stayed there and it was cosy but perfect for a long weekend.
The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful as we were in Nantes for the rugby and the staff made the experience v pleasant. The transport facilities in Nantes were excellent. A great experience in Nantes overall.
Allez les verts!😀
Very conveniently located between the train station and the centre of city; located in a residential neighbourhood with shops, cafes and the like; it was a full sized, very well equipped apartment and not just a hotel room
Lovely little hotel in a quiet location close to the centre ville & all it had to offer. The staff were it's key asset. Probably the nicest & most helpful we have ever experienced. It made us feel very valued & welcome.
Great location, easy to get into Nantes centre. The public transport system is so easy to use and really efficient. Great facilities for kids; free mini golf, outdoor pool and entertainment.
Perfect location in the centre of Nantes. Brittania car parl directly from the hotel. Receptionist was amazing. Very friendly and helpful. No extra charge for my dog. Very clean.
It's a good hotel in Nantes. It is not that close to the city center, but that far either. The breakfast was ok as well. It is a calm place to sleep. Simple but modern.
Beautiful stop over hotel in Nantes.. Good protected parking and 10 mins from the center. Cooking facilities in the room with a fridge and microwave etc.
