Great city, there is still a lot of work going on around the city following the 2011 earthquake but the work completed so far looks fantastic. Oxford terrace is a beautiful place to sit and have a drink and something to eat. Dimitris Souvlaki is superb. Paddy McNaughtons and The Church are great places for a beer or 3. Loved my stay there, hope to be back soon.

I grew up there but it is so different after the earthquakes of 2010+. A lot of strange modern architecture in the CBD which differers greatly to the previous old english feel of the city and most of it no longer feels like the place I grew up! A beautiful place to visit all the same. Wild landscapes and rugged nature all at the doorstep. Arthurs Pass and Kaikoura as examples.Malcolm

Our flight was really early in the morning and it was less than 10 minutes for us to walk to the airport so we didn't have to rely on transportation.
