Known as the 'Jewel Box', Dresden is a stunning German city with rich history, an important classical music scene, and an unforgettable Baroque and Rococo-inspired city centre.
Located on the banks of the Elbe River, the whole city was destroyed during World War II, but has now been rebuilt into one of the most interesting places in Europe. Like a phoenix from the ashes, the Church of Our Lady (Frauenkirche) is an imposing building that is one of the most beloved symbols of the city.
Magnificent Zwinger Palace is the main Dresden attraction, featuring impressive pavilions and a majestic garden in the middle. Continue your journey along the cultural centre of Germany and visit the picturesque Baroque square of Neumarkt. Also not to be missed is Brühl Terrace, a promenade nicknamed the 'Balcony of Europe', because of its excellent view of the River Elbe.
Enjoy a relaxing stroll around the city and you will find a selection of cosy Dresden restaurants and beer gardens serving local dishes and fine wines from the surrounding vineyards.
Dresden Airport is the international airport located in the district of Klotzsche, featuring a railway station in the terminal building. Take the train and head to your Booking.com hotel, guest house or apartment.
Everything! Easily my favourite city to visit in Germany so far for its sheer beauty. Amazingly I got last minute tickets to the Semperoper (the opera) to watch “The Magic Flute”.
The architecture, the food, the people are what make Dresden the special place it is.
The Hop on Hop off bus tours are great as they take you to the suburbs in the hills that you would otherwise not get a chance to see. Great views and a good cafe in one suburb to have a coffee.

I went for trains and there is a lot for train fans.
I went for trains and there is a lot for train fans. Two narrow gauge steam trains, only 15 minutes by train away from the main station: Weißeritztalbahn and Lößnitzgrundbahn. The Transport museum (Verkehrshaus) next to the Frauenkirche is also worth a visit. Take the 1.5 hour train east to Zittau and you get to another great and famous narrow gauge steam train line. And you are only scratching the surface here. If you are in the UK, take the Eurostar to London, then continue with the Eurosleeper in a direct train to Dresden. You can even easily make a day trip to Prague!

Dresden’s history is mind boggling.
Dresden’s history is mind boggling. There are so many areas worth exploring, both within the city and on the outskirts. Rapid transit is easy to negotiate.
Dresden was certainly the cultural Center of Germany and, despite being bombed at the end of WW2, the resilience of Dresdeners helped restore a unique city.

Dresden has obviously much to offer in terms of history,...
Dresden has obviously much to offer in terms of history, with its many museums or locations that have something to tell about it. Like the Semper Oper, which offers guided tours - also for kids (I would recommend for families); Zwinger with its science exebition; beautiful rebuild Frauenkirche with its catacombs etc.
But also "die Neustadt" with many culinary restos, the art district, the Elbufer - especially in summer. As well as the many hiking trails, Bastei Bridge, many castles like Moritzburg or Königstein Fortress (take at least 5h for that. it also hold a museum)
There were many more things to see, which we could not cover. So, a good reason to go back soon.

Although I have travelled to other parts of Germany, I had never seen Dresden. It is a remarkable city! I parked at the underground garage at the Frauenkirche, which was centrally located to many of the points of interest. I visited the Fuerstenzug, which is the Procession of Princes, created on tiles. So impressive! I toured the Palace. Make sure you get the complete ticket that takes you through the Green Vault. Amazing jewelry and priceless artifacts. Walking around, it's architectural overload! Also, don't miss going into Camondas Chocolate Store!
It was the best hotel room we've ever used!
Spotlessly clean!
The spacious walk-in shower with its closed-on-all-sides system, perfect!
Super comfortable bed!
The floor to ceiling windows, an extra treat.
Close to the bus/ train /tram station and centre of Dresden.
Close to a diversity of shops, but not noisy.
The young man at Reception who checked us in, very polite and professional. Sorry we didnt get his name.
All staff, from Catering to Maintrnsnce, 10 out of 10!
Will definetely go back 👍👍👍
This was a good affordable place to stay in Dresden. We booked 2 twin/double rooms with shared bathroom for our group - the rooms were big and comfortable, and the bathroom, although shared between 4 rooms, was very clean and pleasant. The location is good - it's possible to walk to the city center or take a tram from right outside the hotel, very convenient. The parking area isn't very big but there is also space to park on the street. Considering the reasonable price for Dresden, everything was very good.
we enjoy staying in this hotel. Usually we are arriving to Dresden late evening and 24h front desk is important for us. Safety parking is a very good option also. Spacious rooms are comfortable, but ask for the room with Frauenkirchen view. Location is brilliant, as hotel located in the old city, with a lot of places for elegant breakfirst.
The hotel is quite close to Dresden Center, only 15 minutes walk. The staff are professional and nice. The lobby is so cool, it has a hanging chair, so you can sit there, swing, and relax, and the furniture is new and well-maintained. The room is clean, the bed is comfortable. The bathroom amenities are also good. And nice breakfast!
The hotel was close to the old town and to the public transport (tram and train).
The breakfast was good but it should be paid attention to the space. In peak times it can be crowdy and that is a little be annoying.
The room was very quiet as it was at the last floor.
The staff was very friendly and did their best.
I have stayed in two hotels in Dresden and I recommend Pullman. It's very close to train station and also not far from the old town. There are fridge, coffee machine and tea kettle in room. The breakfast is excellent (sugarfree option is a plus) but it could be difficult to find seats during peak hours.
We were very happy for such a spacious room! Hotel has a modern design, free minibar, situated in the heart of the old town. For our nect Dresden trip we will definitely come back. Sitting for breafast provided also outside. Breakfast was very good, everyone can find his preferable. 😊
Fantastic location, wonderful staff. It was my first time in Dresden and there was preparations for Christmasmarkt, so entry to the hotel parking was directed to a secondary entrance. The young gentleman in the lobby was kind enough to come with me in my car and show me the way.
Modern, clean hotel. Good price relative to the service provided. 10-15mins walk from the old town and less to Dresden Mitte Station. Supermarket nearby.
Good breakfast and additional hot items available on request. Shower thoughtfully designed. Staff friendly and helpful.
Clean, tidy Ibis hotel, short walk from the main railway station. We had a late arrival time so having 24-hiur check in really helpful. Breakfast was good. Helpful to be able to leave our luggage after check out. Within walking distance of the main sights of Dresden.
Very nice helpful staff (they tried hard to speak in English). The hotel had a small storage room for our bikes. The breakfast is fantastic. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The restaurant has a really nice view of Dresden.
The hotel has a very convinient location - 8 minutes walk from Dresden Neustadt railway station and 5 minutes by tram to the old town (or 20 minutes walk). The room is very modern and clean, the breakfast is really good.
The place is located in the very center of Dresden old town, which made it very convenient to visit museums, the Christmas market and the river. Overall we are very happy that we chose this accomodation.
We loved the layout of the hotel. An old home turned into a beautiful hotel. Walking distance to the best Christmas market in Germany. Staff was friendly and very helpful.
This was a lovely experience in Dresden. Able to walk to sights and restaurants. The complimentary mini-bar was an extra treat. The hotel is wonderful.
