The Hotel staff was very polite and helpful, Everyone from the Front Desk to the Restaurant. They accommodated our early checkin request. Although they don't have a travel desk, but were able to provide a Taxi operator (Surya). The the cab driver (Palani) was also very helpful and acted a tour guide. We comfortably visited temples in Madurai, went to Rameswaram and Dhanushkodi without any issue. The food at the hotel was also delicious and we enjoyed the buffet and a la carte menu. The rooms were also very comfortable. So, after a tiring day we slept like a baby :)

Great place for ALL visitors, provided you have recourse to air-conditioning to retreat to. The sights are incredible and the people are friendly. We hired a local driver as driving in the crowded streets can be difficult.

If you are going for a pilgrimage then Madurai is the right place to go. I will vouch for the tagline, "Temple City", is appropriate but if you want to enjoy otherwise then other attractions are limited.

Very busy around Minakshi temple.
Very busy around Minakshi temple. We visited during late March 2024 and day time temperatures were around 35°-39° C , the Thirumalai Nayak Palace was going through massive renovation and so 75% of the area was not accessible. Ghandhi Memorial was also being renovated. So was the area near Vandiyur lake and gardens, So in 2024 avoid these places.

I booked 5 nights but 3 was enough to visit local sights.
I booked 5 nights but 3 was enough to visit local sights. I stayed at a hotel walking distance from the station and it also proved walking distance from the meenakshi temple (west gate). Check out the Jain temple on the approach to the west gate. I’d recommend taking socks for the temple visit as shoes are not allowed and the stone floors can get quite hot. Highly recommend touring the outside of the temple for great photos as not cameras are allowed inside, but some shops will allow photos from their rooftops in the hope of a purchase. Beggars are persistent as are street sellers. Thirumalai nayakkar Mahal is well worth a visit - I used google maps to get around and on route to this beautiful building I came across a super shop (AK. Ahamed) for clothes etc - something I would have missed had I taken a ride. I found clothes, food and local travel cheaper than many other cities. I viewed other recommendations for places to eat but I did find it difficult to get the message across about “non-spicy” as it seems many of the sauces come pre-prepped.

Disappointed by our time here: temples are great, but Madurai let down in comparison to other cities in Tamil Nadu by dirty streets and poor roads, overly greedy auto drivers (again far worse than in other Indian cities!). Would not choose to visit again

If you are a person with faith , must visit place only for temple . City like many other cities in India are chaotic and disorderly. Not a customer service oriented atmosphere . Stick with the objective of faith relevant places , don't let people behavior concern you too much .
Madurai definitely lacks proper modern well-renovated hotels, but Majestic Hotel is a good enough option. Here you’re getting everything you need, comfortable beds, amazing hot shower, free water bottles, and a breakfast consisting mostly of idlis, dosas and curries, but they can fix you with some jam and toasts. It’s simple, it’s cheap and it’s well located in Madurai, in a safe and quiet street. The staff is soooo great! They’re kind, helpful and polite, they’ve helped me with absolutely everything. I have no complaints here!
The hotel is quiet and the small garden at the rear is an oasis.
Very helpful staff, especially M Rajesh and Kamatchi in the restaurant, and Saranya Devi in Housekeeping.
The restaurant has a wide choice of dishes, and the buffet is very good value if you would like to try a range of dishes.
The location is fine - there's also a shopping mall and a good supermarket nearby, plus ATMs.
I spent 14 nights there (my third long visit), and shall rebook when making my next visit to Madurai.
The Location is first positive point for this property.
It's very near to Periyar Bustand.
Walking distance to famous Meenakshi Amman temple and Koodal Alaghar temple.
I have to mention Mr Narayanan , the owner is very supportive and guided me for the best way to plan the trip, he even has helped in fetching a Taxi.
The staff is really courteous, special thanks to Mr Vignesh.
Overall a pleasant stay in the heart of Madurai.
Hotel Staff Behaviour is Very Bad like throut our Luggage .... My Booking is with Breakfast they say no have ... I request for extra one hours because we comes at hotel at midnight 12-30AM but hotel management not cooperating ... Ready to fight .... Thank God we leave safely .... I will 100% Going to consumer Court Against this hotel sorry to say that Booking.com Also party for court case
The property was very nice. They have renovated a house to a hotel. The beds were decent and the Wi-Fi was quite good. There are two rooms in the house. If you are coming as a family and booking all the rooms you will find it comfortable. If you only book one room and someone books the other room you might find it uncomfortable. The property was decorated well.
I stayed 3 nights in AMIKA HOTEL MADURAI and I highly recommend this hotel. Location is only 7km from airport, quiet, great facilities (like fitness and spa), amazing breakfast buffet and very kind and helpful staff like Prasannakumar (Duty Manager) and Arul Doss (Restaurant Manager). Great service, thank you very much for making my stay so enjoyable.
a 1000 times recommend this hotel. nice clean non smelly rooms! and the breakfast was amazing! they helped us organize an amazing driver for site seeing for the day. they dont have a restaruant at the hotel but they have 2 of the best restaturants just down the road. i would gladly fly back to india to stay here again. thanks amy and oli from france
The people in hotel are very friendly and welcoming. They make you feel like family and are very helpful with any needs. They also suggested amazing restaurants in a walkable distance. And sweetly offered and bought the famous Madurai Jigarthanda for my mother.

Madurai was a great place to visit steeped in history
Beautiful place to stay with family. Location was good. The hotel had a restaurant in the ground floor which provided all the food options. A bakery and fruit juice shop were also available. Located in the junction of the roads, clearly visible and easy to reach. Very helpful and kind staff.
Extremely pleasant and courteous staff
Arranged for guide and temple darshan
The highlight of the property is the freely roaming peacocks
Definitely would suggest to stay at this property if you are planning a trip to Madurai
