Everything! Absolutely everything! The place is a piece of heaven! Don't think of going to any other hotel in Zanzibar. The staff here are exceptional. All of them. Frank at the reception is a true gentleman; he knows what the guests like, and he makes it ready even before I ask. Regina at the restaurant makes your meal an unforgettable experience. She is always smiling, and she gives all her heart to make you happy. Irene is like another sister for me. So kind and respectful. Also, the guys at the restaurant and the guys who take you to the shore by boat. True gems. This hotel is all about the staff. For me, they were family. I love you and I will return.

This is a very private boutiqe hotel, with just around 12 rooms - about 6 were occupied while we were there. It felt really private. Breakfast is a la carte, with many options. Staff was constantly cleaning and doing small fixes around the place. It was always stunning and spotless.

Pongwe is an isolated beach, at low tide the sea is very far away and, even at high tide, it is very shallow - you cannot swim. Kiwengwa beach, next door (10 minutes by car) is much better, more lively, with many shops and good hotels.

There is not much to do in the local area other than visit other hotel resorts. We did visit a local school to make a donation and I would advise bringing something with you to donate e.g notebooks, sweets, money

Small remote holiday village with the white sand beach but not having good beach maintenance (seaweed, some dirt on the beach). Little bit far from anything in Zanzibar (far from Stone city and airport, far from spectacular Nungwi and Paje beach). No bars, restaurants, shops and infrastructure outside the holiday resort due to remote location and low density of tourists.

At first sight you can say....what to do here ?....no shops, just some local fruits selling points, no crowded areas, less traffic than anywhere but more nature than anywhere around. It's exactly the opposite comparing with Paje. If you need a quiet, family friendly, uncrowded spot.....ask for Pongwe. And if you want to understand why I'm saying these....just go on Pongwe beach when low tide is there.

I did not visit Pongwe town.

I did not visit Pongwe town. I stayed in a luxury boutique hotel north of the town as I like a quiet holiday. The only problem was the tide leaving an unattractive expanse of muddy rocks. The hotel's pontoon helped with access to the sea when the tide was high.

The accommodation and restaurant in Weavers Lodge was outstanding and the beach was idyllic. The tide tends to be out until about 3pm (July/Aug stay) and there are some sharp rocks - if your feet are particularly fragile, water shoes are a good idea. We cycled to the next village - an enjoyable afternoon trip. Very friendly locals.

That you had a private beach, that the hotel keeps it clean and there is security. So you never feel hassled. Everyone that is employed by the hotel goes out of their way to make you feel comfortable and happy. The food was unbelievably good, fresh seafood daily. There was even a vegetarian option. Our rooms were chic with a traditional flare. We will definitely be back thank you Pongwe Beach Lodge for our beautiful family holiday holiday in Zanzibar.

Amazing food. Professional staff that treat you like a friend. Very well designed & well maintained rooms and facilities. A true tropical kind of relaxed vibe - surrounded by a jungle with a white sandy beach. Very "boutique" as described - not too many people, each guest had his own little piece of heaven. I participated in an amusing Maasai Tribe dance on a weekend dinner. There was even a chill cat sleeping next to my room each day...

The location is incredibly unique, the lodge has only 5 rooms, the staff really cares about the guests, Margarita was amazing, she went above and beyond to help us and anticipate our needs, she also helped us plan our trip and recommended amazing places to visit. The food at the restaurant was the best we had in Zanzibar. We stayed at Sultan Villa, it has the best views, and the interior is authentic. I truly loved this place.

We wanted a calm holiday to sit back and relax. This is perfect spot for this. Beach were mostly empty and it was clean. There was no party area in the hotel or near by, so you could just listen the ocean if you wanted to. Be aware there is quite a strong tide that takes the ocean far from the beach. This allows you to walk near the reef and watch sea stars and fishes. Staff were very friendly.

Everything! The property is a hidden gem in Zanzibar! The staff are so welcoming and pays attention to detail in way that cannot be described, you just have to experience it. We absolutely loved that in this case Instagram is reality. At Karibu Beach Resort you are steps away from the beach, rich culture, excursions, amazing disappearing sandbanks, and inviting locals.

Tulia Zanzibar is truly a unique resort. Every aspect of the property is of utmost quality, the bungalows are spacious and extremely well appointed. There are only 16 rooms which makes it intimate and relaxing. The food is delicious, and most of all the team is super friendly, professional and will go over and beyond to make sure you spend an amazing time.

Staff very nice and will do extra things to help. Generally peaceful, although some noise from neighbouring hotels. Nice having bushbabies around and lots of trees. Easy to chat with other people staying. Restaurant area is nice, next to the sea, good breeze from the sea to keep cool. Felt relaxed and safe.

I'm here for the second time, it's always beautiful. Hotel directly on the beach with nice and professional staff, very clean place with beautiful wooden decorations. Delicious food and the view from the restaurant of the ocean and the island - something wonderful. I'll definitely come back in three months

We had a very warm welcome from the staff and everybody was very polite. The rooms were very nice and clean. The resort is beautifuly arranged and decorated. The pool is very good. Beach is right there, but be aware of tides on Zanzibar. Breakfast was very tasty and they offer multiple breakfast options.
