The Berkeley Square Hotel Bristol, hotel in Bristol

Located in Clifton in the heart of Bristol, this unique arts hotel features a terrace, stylish bar and a restaurant.

I stay here regularly when I come to Bristol about 3 times a year in the past couple of years. Its close to where I want to be and its quiet. Staff always helpful and friendly, breakfast always good - great choice of freshly cooked breakfasts as well as buffet bar with all the usual items - and they catered for my dietary needs. Gave me a quiet room though it was quiet anyway. (Staff always considerate in letting me know if there is a function on which might be noisy and offer me a quiet room). Room has all the basics that I need + some little extras like the sherry, fruit, and biscuits! I just like staying here.

FAQs about hotels in Bristol

From Brunel to Banksy!

Britain’s 4th most popular visitor destination, Bristol boasts Brunel’s magnificent Clifton Suspension Bridge spanning the River Avon. More Brunel handiwork is in the harbour where his SS Great Britain steamship is moored. Pirate walks here detail the city’s underground naval history.

Further north in Clifton is the world’s oldest zoo outside a capital city. Other Bristol attractions include At-Bristol Museum and the Grade I-listed Corn Exchange with its 4 "nails" outside where money changed hands. Also worth a visit is St Nicholas Market, in a Georgian square home to several bars and a Slow Food Market on the 1st Sunday of every month. Other Bristol shopping options include shopping centres at Cabot Circus, and Cribbs Causeway on the outskirts.

As a student city, Bristol really comes to life after dark. The live music scene here is fantastic and has given way to several internationally known bands, but for something more alternative head to Eastside.

Another option for alternative-seekers is the work of hometown street artists Banksy. Just like Booking.com’s Bristol accommodation, his work is spread throughout this fabulous city.

This Gateway to the West Country is served by Bristol Airport and Temple Meads train station. The old Bristol to Bath railway line is now a cycle route and makes a great day trip.

Clifton is a nice part of Bristol, lots of trendy cafes and bars. The Clifton Catholic Cathedral is well worth a visit - Brutalist in design but with fantastic stained glass built in the same era as Liverpool RC one, again in the round.

I liked the shopping in Bristol and the people were friendly. There are so many parts of Bristol that you would need a few days to see it all. And of course its home to Banksy, which I managed to see. There is a lot of Graffiti Art, which is amazing, but there is a lot of 'normal' graffiti which is an eyesore. The Clean Air Zones are expensive if your only visiting, £27 for two and a bit days, If you went for a week it would a lot to your break, for nothing in return. And there seems to be a lot of Traffic lights and roundabouts lol

Bristol is a great little city.

Bristol is a great little city. Nice to see some of the UK outside of London. Very close to Bath, Cardiff, and other interesting places to see. We stayed in Clifton which is a very charming little village just above the city center and very easy to get to. Parking is a bit of a challenge but we managed to figure it out quite quickly.

Bristol is a place with a lot of history & the S.S.

Bristol is a place with a lot of history & the S.S. Great Britain ship is well worth visiting. Clifton Bridge & its surrounding area is worth visiting too. Bristol though is the graffiti capital of Europe - sadly most of it has little artistic value and the city is definitively car unfriendly with so many road restrictions and cameras everywhere.

Room was well-kept, clean, spacious, nicely furnished, and comfortable to stay in. It featured the amenities expected, and also a mini fridge, which is something even hotel chains don't often include, and this was very handy. Staff are attentive and friendly, and easily available. The property is in a good location, ideal for visiting the local common, the shops and bars etc. along Gloucester road, and for getting into Bristol city centre easily enough. I have stayed twice now, and would happily do so again in future.

This suited our needs for our 1st trip to Bristol. We stayed 4 nights. The rooms and hotel are a bit tired but the staff are fantastic and the breakie included is good value and freshly cooked. We got to know the smiling and ever helpful staff who made the stay special. Iman, Irune, Hannah, Ewa, Verity, Vineta, and Bea were all exceptional with their customer service. We will return on our next visit. Wifi was fast, and new beds were comfortable. Good location to get into city centre and Clifton.

The room was to a very high standard with exceptionally comfortable beds, quality bathroom facilities, and easy use and reliable air-conditioning, which was much needed in this heat. If you don't know Bristol City Centre, then the location is perfect for attractions, bars and restaurants. A lovely touch as we stayed at several accommodations during our honeymoon break at the Bristol Hotel was the only accommodation that offered us complimentary gifts to celebrate our occasion.

The staff were really really lovely. Breakfast room is more modern than the hotel which was a very pleasant surprise when we entered it for breakfast. Breakfast was absolutely lovely. The staff served us with a smile. Which goes a long way. If they could concentrate on updating the rooms just a little and sorting the bathrooms out, it would do great for them. The bath panel isn't a big thing to change and would have made the bathroom a little more appealing.

Hotel breakfast was delicious, again friendly and helpful staff. Look forward to coming back again soon.

I have stayed in some pretty swanky hotels around the world but this was just as comfortable as any of them. The staff are super pleasant and when I realised I’d forgotten my toothbrush the gave me one. The position is very convenient for driving and I was able to park at the back which made arriving and leaving easy as I didn’t need to drive through the city centre streets to get in and out of Bristol.
