Crianlarich is a wee village in the heart of the southern highlands, ideally placed for hiking, especially if you are climbing Munros -- there must be 30 or more within 40 miles, and about 4 you can climb right from the village. It is very easily accessed by train and bus, although having a car gives you a lot more options. There is one small shop that seems to sell everything!
Places you can visit easily from Crianlarich include Falls of Dochart, Loch Tay, Glen Lochay, Glen Lyon, Loch Lomond, Rannoch Moor, Glencoe, Glen Orchy, Glen Etive.

The village is small with one shop.
The village is small with one shop. The local pub serves good food. The problem I encountered was to do with the misleading mileage on the West Highland Way from Rowardennan. It was actually 22 miles and over half of it over very rocky/muddy paths alongside Loch Lomond. Getting to and staying at Crianlarich was a nice relief

Crianlarich is the village at the gateway to the Highlands...
Crianlarich is the village at the gateway to the Highlands proper, as you travel up the A82. Station, post office, pub, hotel, village shop all good (no cafe at the moment, it was on the station platform but closed in August 2023). Only a few spots (e.g. the railway station) have a 4G signal. Several accommodation options including the upmarket Hotel. Food at the hotel, or at the Rod & Reel, or 10 min up the road in Tyndrum.
More than the rooms or the view from the room, What I liked is the overall experience at the Ben More. Lovely hosts and felt very different from a typical hotel. Lovely view behind the room and if time permits , you could go for trekking. Host was a lovely lady there and she took great care of us. There is work going on there and I hope they would be able to complete before the season fully kicks in. Wonderful place for a stopover and see nearby places. Afterall its people that make a difference in hospitality and not just four walls.
The cabin was lovely, it was built in front of some pine trees and it felt like being out in the wilderness when it was quiet. The village of Crianlarich is a 10 minute walk, there is a pub a shop and a hotel there with a public bar.
I arrived with a lot of luggage and when my check out day arrived, the chap who runs the place kindly gave me a lift to the hotel for the next part of my journey.
The accomodation will be fantastic in the warmer weather, and I believe that there are BBQ facilities available.
Beautiful little inn in a beautiful little town. This was a much needed stop in civilization after 2 nights wild camping on the West Highland Way. Clean, cozy, with a really nice old fashioned, 60's feel to the place. Best Western owns the place apparently, so you check in at the hotel across the street, and use their facilities there if you like (drying room is so clutch on the WHW)
Excellent stay! Room was very nice and light. Bed was big and comfortable. At arrival the host asked what we would like for breakfast, the next morning it was served as requested.
Fishing in the stream was possible, caught 2 brown trout. Good parking accomodation.
If you spend the night here, defenitely go eat at the local pub in Crianlarich, lovely food!
John was a wonderful host and he went the extra mile to help us whilst walking the West Highland Way. Room was very comfortable and our breakfast was excellent. My daughter and I loved our stay here, if your on the West Highland Way this is a great spot to stay not far of the trail, Crianlarich has everything you need but make sure you stay here..
The communal areas were large and well equipped. A nice place to eat, and relax. The staff gave a warm welcome and were very helpful. Lovely location too. It was a nice touch to have usb charging points in the bedroom too. The shop down the road had ample supplies for food for dinner, and the bar in the best western hotel was nice for a drink.
The breakfast was very good, with a good choice. The location worked for us as it was a break on our journey home from Skye. We had an upgrade to the hotel across the way. Good ambience in the restaurant and staff very attentive. Lots of places to relax - bar area, snug area and lounge room with widescreen TV.
They actually had a medical thing come up, so booked us next door. We showed up, they apologized profusely, but it was all the same to us! Both places are cute homes in Crianlarich, just off the WHW and an easy walk to dinner. Everyone at both houses was quite lovely!
Location was perfect for trains and West Highland Way.
Characteristic and comfy hotel.
A very dog friendly place. Complimentary breakfast sausage for our dog, daily delivered by super friendly hotel staff.
Nice Scottish breakfast with vegan breakfast options as well.
I loved the room and the beds were comfortable. I was so happy to have a fan to run at night for white noise and cool air (I'm always hot). That was a thoughtful touch. The restaurant served delicious food and even had folk singers that were excellent!
Veronica and Colin clearly take pride in providing their guests with exceptional food and accommodations. The quality of their facility was incomparable thus far on the way. We have stayed in many lovely places, but theirs is full of loving touches.
Excellent B&B. I simply cannot fault this place. Charming hosts, the house is full of character, there's a cosy guest lounge with TV and fire, beautiful interior design, fabulous breakfast (buffet plus a la carte menu) and a playful dog!
Quiet hotel in spite of being on junction of major roads. Very clean. Spacious dining area with good varied menu and very able chef. Polite and professional staff in all parts of the hotel.
Nice cosy lodge, and warm, perfect for drying out my boarding gear. friendly staff and the bar had a good selection for the evening. The dinner menu was also very nice
very friendly hosts who had great local knowledge. the property is really close to restaurants and the shop which was perfect after a long day walking.
