FAQs about hotels in Llandudno

Victorian Resort with a Welsh Twist

The most popular Wales seaside resort, Llandudno covers a peninsula with 2 sandy coastlines. The North Shore’s wide Victorian promenade is lined with period buildings which now house seafront hotels and guest houses. The beach itself stretches all the way between the Little Orme and Great Orme headlands, passing an outdoor swimming pool.

A historic tram climbs to the peak of Great Orme, where Bronze Age copper mines can be visited. The top is also reachable by cable car from Happy Valley, a recreation area with gardens and an artificial ski slope.

A road runs around the base of the headland passing the historic Grand Hotel, a property available on Booking.com and overlooking the Grade II-listed pier – the longest in Wales. The West Shore is much less developed and the Maesdu Golf Course forms most of its shoreline.

Of course, Llandudno has its fair share of traditional seaside pursuits such as donkey rides and fish and chip shops.

The town also has a modern retail park near the train station and Venue Cymru event centre, and wrought-iron canopies shade smaller shops along Mostyn Avenue, Broadway and Street. The latter - Mostyn Street - is effectively the high street and becomes brightly decorated during the Victorian carnival in May.

Llandudno is an amazing place to visit - exceptionally clean and litter free. Lots of restaurants, shops, cafes and an immaculate promenade. Cable cars, mountain tram, cafe/park on the summit, dry slope ski centre which also does sno-tubing, tobogganing, mini golf with a restaurant/bar.

The staff where excellent, but facilities where few. I would definitely not advise disabled people to use it. The stairs at the front entrance are lethal plus they only had WiFi in certain parts of the hotel, usually near reception. Nothing in the rooms. There was no entertainment till the summer. The hotel itself was very comfortable but these little things spoiled our stay.

Llandudno wasn't our first choice but that's where we ended up going and on arrival immediately felt it was a good choice. The long sweeping sea front, plenty of shops, bars and cafes. It still holds on to its charm of yesteryear. The pier and tram ride up the Orme are popular. A good range of accommodation to suit most pockets. Could happily have stayed longer than our 3 nights and would happily visit again.

I love walking up the Great Orme, its tough going but the views are amazing, The town has plenty of choice for bars and restaurants, LCs Bar, Fountain Bar, The Mediterranean Restaurant, The Taverna, The Casanova, The Cottage Loaf, to name a few. The town is also clean and has a good choice of shops...The Range, River Island, Primark, Marks and Spencers all within walking distance from main street.

    I love Llandudno.

I love Llandudno. The North beach is touristy, with hotels and the pier. The West beach is not touristy at all. They are close, so visitors can easily take their pick or do both. The Great Orme is one of the best places to go with far-reaching views. We love it up there. The town itself has lovely wide streets with plenty of free parking. It is flat and easy to walk around. There are plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants.

The staff were brilliant. The lady at reception (I didn't get her name unfortunately but I think maybe she was Spanish) really made us feel like VIPs...so welcoming and supportive. She helped us with parking and, as we arrived a couple of hours before check-in, allowed us to use the pool facilities whilst our room was prepared. We booked last minute and the hotel was obviously with coach parties, but we were given a fantastic room with double-aspect windows with fantastic views of the seafront and pier.

The location was excellent being right in the center of the promenade. The old buildings are so beautiful on the outside. Unfortunately with historic old Victorian buildings like this, looked like ALL the hotels were also very old on the inside. Being in the bar area was where I preferred to be with the exquisite sea views. The shower was excellent. Definitely appreciated a modern shower. Also, the beds were quite comfortable. It was a nice big, space for the 2 adult parents & 18 year old son.

When Brian the night porter kindly helped me to assess the parking meter in the Council car park next to the hotel at 2.am.It was dark and impossible to do without Brian's help Yes, perhaps it was a " Grand Hotel " in Victorian times but not anymore. It needs total refurbishment. Perhaps because Llandudno, is so popular it can be difficult to get a room there at short notice, the owners see no need to spend money on updating

The breakfast was very good, and the owners and their one member of staff were very helpful and accomodating. This was only their second week as owners but they were very friendly, and made us feel at home throughout our stay. The hotel is on the seafront, at the quieter end of Llandudno, perfect if you don't mind a walk to the more commercial part of town. Parking is also free on the streets here.

The seafront location and surrounding countryside were beautiful. We were pleasantly surprised that our twin room had 2 double beds. The check in staff were helpful and polite and the room was spacious. On this occasion it suited our needs as we didn't spend much time in the hotel. The beds were comfortable and clean and housekeeping did a good job of refreshing our room.

Stayed here before and couldn’t believe the value for money so have returned, you will get better, more upmarket hotels, even in Llandudno but it’s really nice here, the staff are super friendly and helpful and a decent breakfast.
