The owners we so lovely and friendly, they done everything they could to make our holiday great. The food was exceptional with huge choice of breakfast items and ‘high end’ restaurant quality evening meal options. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and beds very comfortable and views wonderful.

The property was in a fantastic location within walking distance back in to Mevagissey and port Mellon.

Fine for the walker, short or long- haul hiker, wild flower enthusiast and taking in dramatic coastal views. Boat hire might be possible as we saw families go out on both days of our stay but don't know from whom or cost. Fine for four legged companions as well on cliff top walks. However be prepared for a village with one other watering hole - The Ship Inn. Excellent pub grub at reasonable prices which we visited twice. The Lugger our hotel for two days needs to hike it's act. There are some very interesting places outside Portloe but need four wheels.

This is a delightful village by the coast.
This is a delightful village by the coast. It has a charming hotel, The Lugger, and an excellent old pub, The Ship Inn. Narrow roads wind down to the coast and it can be accessed via a local bus. There is a wonderful bus stop, with a covered seating area, on the hillside to the east of Portloe.
The nearest shop is in Veryan and it appears to sell everything that one could want on holiday!

Lovely, cute, quiet fishing town away from the main tourist locations but close enough to get to them. Lovely walks on the south west coast path from the village. The Ship Inn pub is not the best but the Lugger hotel is incredible.

We loved the coastal walks at Portloe and enjoyed visiting Heligan, Eden Project and the Minack Theatre. We ate in the Coastal towns we were visiting each day. We found the roads narrow and had to be very careful when driving to our destinations.

Portloe is a wonderful historic fishing village.
Portloe is a wonderful historic fishing village. There are wonderful walks along the South West Costal path leading from each side of town. A bus to Truro or St Maws runs regularly, daily from opposite the church. The Ship Inn Hotel has excellent meals and very friendly atmosphere.

The room was excellent although a little small.
The room was excellent although a little small. The only evening meal we had was very average mainly due to the lamb shank which was pretty awful in that there was no real flavour and cooked unimaginatively. No crab available but breakfasts superb.
Just back from a lovely stay at the Lugger! The hotel is in a pretty village with fabulous sea views - the hotel staff were all fantastic particularly the Polish lady at reception who went above and beyond to find us a taxi to take us to the start of our walk - taxi’s on a Sunday are almost impossible to find in that area last minute!
This is the third time we have stayed and it is always wonderfully relaxing. Dinners were absolutely top class and the staff were friendly and helpful. The only downside is the very compact car park which was stressful until we discovered the alternative up the road. The hotel itself is unpretentious but with very high standards.
Beautiful, tucked away location away from the August crowds. Fabulous breakfast. Reception staff went the extra mile to contact us to get us booked in for dinner and we had a great evening meal. Loved the view from the hotel terrace and a pre-breakfast swim in the harbour.
The staff in this hotel are the most friendly and welcoming staff I have encountered for a very long time. We received the warmest welcome and it was clear that nothing was too much trouble for them. I would definitely recommend the hotel for a few relaxing days away.
Amazing location, literally overlooking the tiny harbour and slipway at Portloe. Fab open fire with a couple of comfy sofas to chill out on a winter's night plus the benefit of a smart tv. A well equipped kitchen was also much appreciated.
Very pretty cove and all tables in the restaurant have good views . The food was outstanding and the staff very friendly .
Road to Portloe scary as so narrow but worth it for such a lovely hotel . Relaxing and plenty to do and see nearby
a perfect little cottage with terrace, and a lovely pub-hotel for beautiful food. all immaculately clean with a lovely team of people working there. from the reception to the restaurant we were treated so well by everyone.
Great hotel to enjoy the coastal paths and seascape. The service at the hotel is outstanding and meals superb. We were there to relax and soak up the scenery. We loved sitting on the terrace and watching the port activity.
The room was lovely with plenty of space and a really good shower.
The hotel is in a stunning location looking out to sea.
The food was very good although there are a couple of suggestions for improvement below.
Amazing hotel, very well kept, all staff and guests so friendly and polite. We felt so relaxed on our stay there was no rush. The view from our room straight onto the sea was lovely. Can’t recommend enough.
The Lugger Hotel was idyllic, stunning location with amazing views.
The staff were super friendly and welcoming, couldn’t do enough for us, very accommodating.
We shall definitely be returning.
