A nice friendly little town with good views over to the Isle of Man or inland to the Cumbrian fells. Good railway links, although I didn't use them this time. Interesting proximity to the Atomic. Nice church and friendly community.

Seascale is a stunning seaside location, has a beautiful tranquil beach. Has the best place to get ice cream from at Mawson's honestly yummy.
People there are friendly and welcoming, it's got outstanding countryside you have eskdale, wastwater, ennendale, ravenglass on your door step.
Since it's out of the national park they are hardly any tourists so a lot quieter.

The Co-op local is the only general store with limited choices. The bakery only opens for a short period but is highly rated and helpful staff. There is also a Chinese takeaway which is decent and busy. There is also a pizza/burger bar. There is and icecream parlour at the Bailey lodge which I am told really good.
There are a few good pubs that do meals in the Gosforth area just 2 mile from Seascale and on the routes to Eskdale and Wastdale. Such as the pub at Santon bridge and Kellbeck hotel.
I would say if you are intending to visit that area then Seascale is only suitable for short stays.

As a town/village it was a one (or two) horse place with little to no real amenities for tourists...unless you like unpopulated beaches ! Only eatery was the Chinese takeaway...and a Co-op shop!
You would have to drive to St Bees for any other beach options (cafe), but similar beach..large car park and views, plus hill walking!
Good pubs in Gosforth but not much else!
Egremont was nearest point of civilisation. aprox (6 miles).
We just had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The owners were so lovely; they we’re friendly and accommodating and had great advice about where to visit etc. The room was very nice and the hotel is very clean and well looked after. The breakfast was also very good. This hotel makes a great base for those who want to visit the local attractions. Seascale is small but pretty and the surrounding areas have some great attractions. Would definitely recommend and would visit again
Roseta, the owner, is a wonderful hostess. She is so accommodating.
Due to it being off-season, I was offered a room upgrade (at no extra cost), which was wonderful. I was given a sea view room, which was extremely comfortable.
The whole building smells nice.... I know it sounds weird, but, go and stay there, then you'll understand......
Trust me, the "Westcliff" is a little gem in Seascale.
location was great, lovely quiet village with a few pubs and a shop - short drive to scarfell pike or a beach. The cottage was so clean and comfortable too. Had everything we needed. Loved the little garden too, breakfast in the sun was a treat. Had a great couple of nights sleep on a very nice hotel quality bed and bedding - very quiet and dark. Lots of parking on the street outside.
Twin beds requested, double bedded room supplied. Bed type request is not clear enough on Booking.com system, had not been noticed by hotel. Problem solved by providing us another room at no extra cost. I was impressed by this response.
Michelle is very friendly and helpful. the food in the resturant is very nice as well. can cycle to Wast water which is very beautiful and the A road not far from the hotel has a 14% steep climb which is fun! Will stay again in Autumn.
It is a cozy hotel with a nice view of the ocean. The room was very comfortable and staff welcoming. It is in a good location if you are driving. There are a few nice restaurants and cafes for breakfast/lunch within a 10 min drive
Good sized accommodation, good fixtures and fittings. Local seaside walking possibilities and easy access to West Cumbrian attractions: Ravenglass railway, Ennerdale and Wast water lakes etc.
The Cumbrian lodge was extremely clean and friendly.
The restaurant had a good menu that was value for money, it is some place I would recommend and we’ll be back for another visit .
fabulous property with lots of character - room was great and had the most amazing views!!! Everyone who works at the hotel are friendly and helpful’ we absolutely loved our stay!!
Very helpful staff who arranged for us to check in late and stay even though the hotel should have been closed.
They even arranged a help yourself breakfast for the next morning
