It was an excellent stay, the staff were really helpful 👍 especially the lady who served us breakfast ( sorry don’t know her name) very cheerful and made sure we had everything we needed, she also sorted out the confusion with the room. Brilliant thank you all.

Didn’t end up saying due to the condition of the room vs how it was advertised. It also was not clean.
Booked alternative accommodation and didn’t stay at the hotel.

Everything, from the warm greeting on arrival to the excellent room and fantastic breakfast. Knocked spots off the 5 star hotel I stayed at in early March at a faction of the price. Please note, The Moorhead is in a very rural location. If you must have a town or city around you then don't book but if you value peace and tranquility with nothing but bird song this is the place for you. If you need to stay connected then there is excellent Wi-Fi and TV in your room. The beautiful, wide ranging, breakfast includes freshly laid eggs on the premises and the most tasty, to die for, sausages. Very, very highly recommended.

My first stay in a quiet B and B in years and it was truly excellent. The owners, Kim and Tina were so welcoming and friendly ensuring my study was very pleasant indeed.
Breakfast was excellent, cooked to perfection. The room was clean and bright with fabulous views over the countryside and castle ruins.
Very comfortable bed and ensuite facilities.
Lovely walk in the early evening to the castle ruins and small local church with fascinating history. Peaceful and in the heart of nature at it's best in mid May...a really beautiful and calming experience.
easy accessible shops for top up shopping
we went to Ellesmere Lake and was a lovely walk with an excellent cafe
Being Christmas we spent most of our time at the house and it was great, the space and facilities in the property enabled this and it was easy to be in and a real treat

TO be honest we stayed because the hotel was near to Shrewsbury. Wem itself looked a bit of an economic disaster with a lot of closed or run down shops. It had clearly seen better days so we didn't bother looking round it having driven through it.

Wem is a nice little town tucked away in beautiful countryside just north of Shrewsbury. People there are so friendly and nice and it is a quiet little town. It is a short drive to Shrewsbury and only 30 miles from the beautiful RAF Museum Midlands, which is a must see if you are in the area.

Windows in bedroom in terrible state of repair.
Windows in bedroom in terrible state of repair. Shower constantly changed from very cold to very hot. No proper wardrobe - just hanging space. Couldn't charge to the room from the bar - had to leave credit card behind the bar!!! No drawers in the room. Very, very hot and only one very small fan. Extractor fan in bathroom didn't work. Often no-one at reception. Had to use phone to call someone and often no-one came. Only saving grace was the food. Very good and catered for dairy and gluten free diet.

Our visit was solely for the purpose of getting together with the family and so we stayed in the hotel and sadly we didn't have an opportunity to visit Wem, so I can't offer any opinion on the attractions of the town.

A very nice market town in the middle of lovely Shropshire.
A very nice market town in the middle of lovely Shropshire. Great places to eat, including 2 Indian restaurants, including the excellent Junoon. The (historic) Castle pub, in the High Street does great breakfast, from 9am at weekends.
And in the High Street, there's also a really top notch independent bookshop - The Wem Bookshop (8. The High Street).
Wem has its own railway station, well situated on the edge of the town, with a 2-hourly service between Shrewsbury and Crewe. There is also the hourly 511 bus service, which runs through Wem, between Shrewsbury and Whitchurch.
Lovely spacious room, comfortable bed, hot shower and lovely breakfast. The information pack in the room was very in-depth with everything about the location history, facilities and local knowledge including Dr’s, Dentist, pharmacy amongst others. Local pubs down the road, train station a steady 15 minutes walk with train into Shrewsbury a mere 15 minutes. A big mention to the hotel staff who were absolutely brilliant, very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
Very helpful staff, easy to alter breakfast times if a change of plans, very good breakfast selection; continental to full english.
Rooms are spacious and airy , lots of safe parking space.
Taco or sandwiches available through afternoon and early evening but for evening meals, there are 2 pubs near-by that do good evening food (The Fox & The Castle).
Very useful in-house laundry service as well.
staff friendly, room clean quiet and plenty to teas/ coffee making facilities
porter made me a cup of tea in the morning at 6 am as I had to leave early for a race. he would have made me toast / cereal aswel if I wanted which is going the extra mile I’ve never had in a hotel before
the Property was surrounded by the most scenery and grounds and also well lit for finding whilst travelling to it. Our Hosts could not have done anymore to make us all feel so welcome and comfortable throughout our stay. i would 100% recommend the property to anyone staying in Wem.
It’s such a relaxing hotel .The staff are so helpful and friendly. We didn’t need anything extra but i know if we had it would have been no trouble. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the Breakfast was superb with plenty of choices .We’ve already booked to return.
Liked absolutely everything! Great, friendly hosts, nice ambiance and room was spotless. Hosts have put their efforts into every single detail to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Very tranquil and beautiful area. Would definitely love to come back again.
Lovely hotel with friendly staff. Food very good, and great breakfast. Comfortable bed however the shower wasn't powerful at all, but bathroom and room generally clean. Definitely a hotel for just the golfers rather than a nice retreat or short stay.
Friendly reception on arrival. Lots of information. Room was clean with crisp decor as was whole hotel.
Superb cooked breakfast, nothing was to much bother for waitress.
Bathroom had instant hot water. Tabs on toilet rolls.
Absolutely lovely and spacious apartment, very clean and super comfy beds. The apartment is located in a quiet area, about a 5 minute walk from the centre. I happily highly recommend The Wem Nest.
Lovely hotel in spacious grounds, ample free parking, good breakfast
Thoroughly enjoyed our 1 night stay at the old rectory
We would stay at this hotel next time in Wem
