big shops. Have no idea how to get there by public transport, but with car it was easy to find.

We liked the central pedestrian area and the area around the lake. A ride on the little train was a bonus. The person at the information was friendly and informative. Some nice restaurants around the main square.

I mostly stayed in the central parts of the town as I had to attend lectures at KTU. The lunches were arranged by the conference, so I did not eat out much, but I found a zander fish with white wine sauce at Kranto gatve that was just finger-licking good! I'm one of those weird people who just cannot stand squat toilets. Unfortunately I had to come across a couple in Panevėžys. I hope they will be gone shortly. At ugly intersection, opposite the street from Lidl and some Lithuanian supermarkets. But after spending a night there i did. Panevezys is so ugly and boring city that the best location is the one that is easy to leave it. And near supermarkets if you need to do some shopping before leaving.
