Hofn is a good stopping point, and this hotel was better than we expected. Restaurant and bar are open late (compared to other places) and had good pizza and other food and drink options. Good breakfast spread as well. Room was across the street in some low-rise buildings, but it was comfortable, had good blackout curtains, and bathroom was clean and had good water pressure.

Fancy heat control for the room. Tea/coffee were available in the common area. There was a microwave in the common area which could be used outside the breakfast hours.

Lovely quiet village on the sea.
Lovely quiet village on the sea. The langoustine remind me more of shrimp due to the size. They are tasty and mild flavored. It’s a great place for a relaxing stay. We are at Kaffihornid. Lovely atmosphere, tasty burgers and lobster pasta and sandwich. I wouldn’t recommend the lobster soup. It’s a clear broth and doesn’t have much flavor, not worth the price in my opinion. We stayed at Skyaborg apartments and highly recommend them. ZBistro also has a breakfast restaurant, which is unusual for Iceland.PhillipsUnited States - 8.0Scored 8.0

Gem! This was worth the extra drive to visit. Honestly it was my favorite part of Iceland. Rugged beauty without the long line of tourist buses to contend with. Stokksnes Beach is a hidden gem at sunrise!

The Berjaya in Höfn is in a wonderful position with the harbour on one side and a view out across the water to the glaciers and the west on the other. It is also easy walking distance to all the local bars and restaurants.

Hofn is a lovely town in SE Iceland.
Hofn is a lovely town in SE Iceland. It has numerous, easy walking paths thru town and around their waterfront including a golf course with views that I think rival those of the finest courses in the world. Not a golfer, but if I were, this is a place I would want to play. It was spectacular. The views of the glacier were outstanding. There were several good restaurants, lobster is a local specialty. There are nature and art trails along the waterfront and a number of good historical exhibits. Wished we could have spent more time here. It felt like a vibrant, fully functioning community that I would have liked to explore more.AAnonymous

It was like living a dream, It was like being Diabolik and Eva Kant staying at one of their secret houses, a deluxe one. Being in the middle of nowhere with nothing around was an other interesting feeling: you are safe and warm inside the house, at the same time you are totally alone in the middle of an Icelandic landscape. Not having a kitchen is the main downside of this accommodation, also because no nearby facilities are present: that being said, we has a wonderful stay!

You are also between the large looming mountains and sea. The breakfast was easily the best we had in Iceland with local speciality food items included. Our host took time out of her day to recommend places to stop in east Iceland - she was so well-prepared that she gave us a full printed paper with each location listed in order. It was one of the cheapest places we found in entire Iceland, and Hofn is well known for being super expensive, so its decent for Icelandic prices. Normally I would rate this place lower but it is a budget-friendly accommodation so you can't expect 5* treatment. And also the way the hotel is situated in nature is amazing. A great view upon the mountains, that's even more beautiful with sunrise and sunset! The owners were very friendly and always in for a chat, and even some sightseeing and aurora advice. Bonus for Dutch travelers: the owner also speaks a good amount of Dutch! The hosts were very nice and the food was fantastic. We had dinner just after we arrived and breakfast the next morning. It was some of the best food we had in Iceland. There are some amazing views from the property of the surrounding farms and the glacier capped mountains. It was located away from the highway so it was very quiet.
