Location is right across from the Upper Caravanserai - it can be seen from the hotel room/s. We could go for a long walk in the morning around the quiet town, and the Khan's palace - possible simply because of the location. The hotel has a temp controlled indoor pool which my kids really enjoyed. The breakfast was great - although choice was limited for us vegetarians, the kitchen team made some sautéed veggies just for us + heated some of the precooked veggies we had carried along. Very helpful staff made for a great stay.

Sheki is an amazing city. The following places are a must see,
Xan Sarayi, Karavan Sarayi, and the Albanian church in Kishi.
Try to avoid having food in touristic places. I have noticed that they have a separate menu (Almost 75% more price) for tourists.
Walking is the best way to get around sheki. Take taxi (Make sure you fix the price in advance) to the kishi village.

If you are seeking enjoying great food in the heart of historical places Sheki is the great destination to visit. You can feel in every street, corner the warmness of local people, pleasant weather and rich nature. Though I was there in December the weather was quite warm to walking around and exploring city by foot.

Quiet and relaxed.
Friendly people.
Buses, vans and taxis available to move around.
Some areas don't have streetlights so you might want to be careful after sunset, which was around 8:30pm.
Great place to relax, for food, silk, handicrafts and sweets.

Sheki Khan Palace is small and can be finished quickly[6rooms in all]. The walk and the views are worth the visit. The Juma Masjid is good but beware of the keeper asking for tips. You can find such people in every Masjid/place in Azerbeijan. VIP Karavan restorant very reasonable and good. Avoid the bazaar. Albanian Church of Kish is worth a visit. Shopping in Sheki could be avoided since it is tourist destination and hence rates are very high compared to other places.

Sheki can be explored in 2 days (unless you're hiking there too).
Must-see/do:
1. Shah's Summer Palace including fortress walls, Albanian Church & museum. Tip: Buy a combo ticket and it allows access to Shah's Winter Palace too, but only 1 room has been restored there. No photos are allowed in either Palace. Winter Palace is 20 mins walk away down the main road in the Old Town - not easy to find but locals will help.
2. Cemetery and Memorial - we found this gem by chance - hardly mentioned anywhere. Beautiful & peaceful with wonderful views of mountains behind Sheki.
3. The Caravanserai - it's had a lot of restoration work done to it but it's still worth walking around.
4. Walk around the old town's cobbled streets - it's not dazzling but gives an idea of how life goes on in the old part of Sheki.
5. If time, explore the 'newer' part of Sheki - interesting contrast with the old part. If you have a car, take a drive - the scenery around Sheki is stunning in parts.
Good place to eat - the Sheki Palace Restaurant - great Azeri food at good prices - seating inside & outside. Illy Expresso Cafe on the main through road is a cool place to relax for a hot drink - they let you bring in Sheki baclava from next door to enjoy with your drink.

It'll need only a couple of days maximum to experience the town. The summer palace and its environs (town walls, Albanian church, etc) are a must. The winter palace is a little hard to find but a willing local helped us to find it - only one room so far has been restored to the glory of the summer palace which may explain why we had it to ourselves. The cemetery and memorial site is very moving and peaceful and we were surprised it doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere as a place to visit - it has a wonderful view of the mountain backdrop to the town. Wandering the old town centre is interesting too but doesn't take long. The Sheki Palace Hotel restaurant prepares great local dishes at good prices. Sheki is a nice place to hang out and chill and soak up its quite unique atmosphere.
I did not prepare for the welcome and hospitality of Ali's family. I felt like I was at home while I stayed here. The breakfast was perfect, even though I could not eat it all. Ali's house is an ancient house in the downtown of Sheki. The house is more like a homestay than a hotel, but I got everything I needed while I stayed. Language is not even a barrier to the friendly and hospitality of Ali's family. It is a little bit cold in winter but all rooms are heated.
If you come to Azerbaijan you must and must visit this lovely hotel, standing on top of greenery mountains and overlooking spacious landscape of the village below, the green mountains ahead, the river, no view can be better
You must also try their food served at pergolas facing the cliff, one of the best and tasty local dishes you will experience in Azerbaijan,
Sheki is a beloved place for us, and Kungut Hotel is a must to visit.
*Staff were friendly, engaging and spoke excellent English. They were very accommodating in opening the bar for us to have a bottle of wine when we returned from dinner one evening.
*The room was simple but clean (fridge and kettle provided). Air con was effective.
*Decent location (Bolt is very cheap in Sheki so it's easier to get around)
*WiFi was reliable
*Overall, great value at less than £50 a night
We had the best stay at Qala hotel. Sheki is a beautiful city and the personnel really helped us experience the beauty of Sheki. Also, everyone at the hotel was so extremely helpful with any arrangements that we needed. They took great care of us, especially Ismayil bey. Thank you so much voor everything! Upon return to Sheki we wi definitely choose to stay at this hotel again.
One of the best Hotels I've ever stayed at. The view is simply heavenly!!! Staff is amazing and so helpful couldn't have asked for a better location room or overall experience. Oh yeah and the food is amazing too!!! Extremely delicious and very moderately priced!!! I love this place and will definitely be back again and again
Enjoyed my stay here. It is a home stay but the guest rooms are seperate, and feel private. Good wifi, clean, easy check-in, the hosts are very helpful and spoke english, affordable, the food was good too. More fun/interesting than staying in a hotel
This place rocks! The owner is super nice and really knows how to represent the true spirit of Azerbaijani culture and hospitality. We had an amazing time here, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good experience.
this hotel was amazing, simple classy and Cosy . this hotel can be first in my hotel experiences. thank you very much perfect hotel staff . I liked so much. who visit to shaki you have to use this hotel extremely recommend.
I consider the Old Town Hotel one of the Shaki's attractions. It's one of the Silk Road caravanserais, tastefully adjusted to modern travellers' needs, The attention to detail in absolutely all aspects is incredible.
Very good value for money. Very helpful staff. Right next to excellent restaurant and small supermarket. Comfortable bed. Short taxi ride from Sheki old town, costing around 2 manat (£1) with tip. Very clean.
The host is so sweet and friendly. He helped us so much and treated us like his friends. He's always available for any questions. He made us very happy! Location is also very central and easy to visit Sheki.
As always, our holiday was wonderful. We came for a couple of days, but stayed longer. Special thanks to Narmin. We hope that we will be back soon and not alone. We recommend this hotel to everyone.
The room and the common areas with comfortable seating were historic and furnished very well. The restaurant on site was very convenient and we had the best meal during our 8 days in Azerbaijan.
The staff were very kind and helpful.
The location is very good, near to the busy area of the city.
The minimum hotel requirements are available.
Good for a one night stay.
The staff is just great! Extremely friendly and helpful!
The location is right in the centre of Sheki.
The hostel has a great Café. The food is very good.
