Lots of food and shopping on Jurmala street, but the whole area is very large so renting bikes or having a car is very important.
Summer would be much nicer but the autumn was very quiet and there were no crowds anywhere.

Jurmala is a must-visit when coming to Latvia.
Jurmala is a must-visit when coming to Latvia. The kilometeres long beach side just 20-30 minutes from Riga, easy to reach both by car and by train. First things to visit are most likely Majori, Dzintari and shopping/walking street that connects both of those places (which also stands for train stops when you buy train tickets). But also Bulduri and Dubulti are good areas to visit, especially if you are a fan of architecture - Jurmala has its own unique style of wooden architecture houses, some of them have been reconstructed and can be perfectly seen between streets (Morbergs summer house is the best example of this). There are plenty of good 4 and 5 star hotels in the center - with good SPA's and restaurant. The best outside restaurant could be "Line 36" - with one of the best Latvian chefs. For active attractions my best suggestion is Livu Aqua Park - inside water attractions park, one of the biggest in Baltics, quite pricey but good for a fun day, especially with kids. There are lots of nature to explore around the city, but all in all I would say that outside the summer season the city will surprise you with the pleasant calmness and fresh air.

We couldn't find anyplace where we could walk the dog on the beach. In general, I didn't get the impression that dogs are appreciated there. Our 5kg Havanese seemed too much for a beach walk in October--even on the leash.

Nice town with long beach near Riga.
Nice town with long beach near Riga. A varitey of restaurants and leisure activities are available.
Unfortunately the summer seasons ends mid of august so that as late august traveler the beaches and town seem a little like a ghost town and a lot of restaurants, activites etc. are already closed

great location, right on the beach with every possible facility available. a short walk to the shopping area where we bought souvenirs and had coffee. The hotel restaurant had an exclusive feel and the food was excellent. We will definitely return again.
Very nice interior, everything is brand new and very clean. Very comfortable sofa and nice open space. Great space for entertaining or simply relaxing after a day on the beach. All the kitchen utensils are brand new which was important for us, no scratched up pans. Everything you need for short or longer stay. Very quiet location, no street sounds. The host is very responsive and was very accomodating to early checkin. The apartment looks and feels like from a designer magazine cover- very trendy.
Host was wonderful, all instructions how to get to the apartments were given. One of the main point is location: 2 minutes walk to the beach through luxurious road, so we have only good impressions. Also, we visited Lielupe hotel spa so we spent 8-10 min to get there" which is amazing. Moreover, we enjoyed the location of railway station (also 2 minutes of walk) therefore it was comfortable to visit Riga as well.
Netflix, other TV applications are available for visitors.
The breakfast offer was very large, with 6 types of hot dishes and various salads, three types of breakfast cereals combined with yogurt or milk, even lactose-free milk was available. Different types of buns and several types of coffee from the machine. The rating for breakfast is 11 points out of 10. Very delicious.
The SPA offer with two hours included in the hotel price exceeded expectations. A large pool, two types of saunas and two hot tubs.
This is a budget option to spend time in Jurmala. The hotel is extremely clean and comfortable. Pretty good breakfasts (you can choose from the multiple type of food, even if you are vegan) Localization is quite good - approx. 10 min walk to the public beach. There is no sauna or gym in the building, but you can enjoy your time with playing billiards or making some journey throughout a forest or/and the beach. I can fully recommend this place.
It is a little beautiful hotel with incredible kind and helpful staff. Nicely decorated, everywhere always sparkling clean, breakfast was unforgettable, supermarkets and restaurants are near, beach is also really close. It was just beyond my expectations and made me feel really at home. Special thanks to Larissa, who took care of me very well from the first moment until the end.
Very good location, close to both walking street and the beach. Owners of the boutique hotel gave a very good service with recommendations for spa, lending out beach towels and also provide for a shower after check out time. Nice breakfast with different options for choice.
Very good location. There is everything you need. Delicious coffee with a beautiful view ;) The bed in a cone-tent was wide and comfy. Cozy spaces around - tables, hammocks. Nearby is Lielupe, which looks like a small lake. There is a place on the beach for swimming.
Excellent small hotel right in the centre of Jurmala. Very nice cosy interior and lovely building. Comfortable clean and quiet. The restaurant was wonderful - great food and ambience. Lovely dinner and breakfast. Super friendly and helpful receptionist.
Perfect location just right next to the beach, really cozy atmosphere with the tents and many lights all around. Clean toilets and showers. You can find everything you need in a little kitchen which is outside on a terrace. Free coffee 👌
It is very attractive building and nicely furnished. The rooms are comfortable. It has a good location close to the beach and the pedestrian street which are the two main attractions of this town?
Hotel is located very close to the beach. It was possible exchange the room with a air conditioner because the 2 floor room didn't have it. SPA was excellent.
