It’s a fine hotel centrally located in the old city center of Puerto Plata. The beach is in 25 minutes of walking distance. Very simple rooms for a cheap enough price. Didn’t check the rooftop bar

For myself, I am not always happy on a beach vacation because I need plenty to keep me busy. A day or two less would've been fine, but that was not the fault of the resort.
Puerto Plata was OK. Not that much to see there. We did take the cable car up to the top of Isabel de Torres, and that was very pleasant. We also took a driver out to Carbarete Beach and el choco Park, which we enjoyed. I would not bother with Damajagua. There were perhaps 1000 people there when we went, and it was quite a zoo. For Various reasons, I ended up not going all the way up to the Falls, and I was perfectly happy not to have gone. My husband didn't care for it at all. The ride was all right, but the whole experience was not worth the effort. Too many people. Waiting in line in the wilderness is not our idea of a good time.

The town is great, the people are nice, but the hotels are in serious need of restoration and updating. I cant get over the fact that almost all the hotels on the coast there do not have proper hurricane protection, whether its shutters or hurricane resistant windows. Any direct hit by a hurricane will spell disaster for most hotels on the coast. Serious upgrading is needed on nearly every hotel.

I love Puerto Plata, the people are friendly.
I love Puerto Plata, the people are friendly. Smile and they will always respond in kind.
Be careful to not wear expensive jewelery on display as petty crime exists in less tourist areas, and cover your all inclusive band while out as you will be seen as a rich american and pestered.

I love the people of San Felipe de Puerto Plata and I love the beaches.
It is a safe place and beauty everywhere with lots to do. I love the downtown area with its many attractions like umbrella street, Paseo de Dona Blanca or pink place, Parque Central and also the many restaurants in the area. One of my favorites is El Patio de Frida. A nice casual Mexican restaurant near the downtown area and also Casa 40 is another one near by.

I enjoyed the beach, pool and serenity.
I enjoyed the beach, pool and serenity. I felt secure with the gated entry and security guard on duty. A list of shopping and dining locations screened by the owner would have been useful, but we vetured and survived. People were friendly and not too aggressive.

Facility was ok. Service was horrendous.
Facility was ok. Service was horrendous. They advertise 3 restaurant however only 1 available per day which required reservations but not available. Food was not very good and very limited options. Bar service - only draft beer and not very good. Bottle beer was additional, even President which should have been inclusive. No mini bar service! Would definitely not be back!!

This is my first visit to the Dominican Republic and I did not come for the resorts. My interest is coming was to investigate the local history and practice speaking Spanish. This guesthouse could not have been a better place for me to stay. It is in the centro historico and close to my areas of interest. It’s is a very peaceful location and the staff are very friendly and helpful. This is a great place for families or for any traveler looking for a low key, tranquil atmosphere. I hope to return here for future visits to Puerto Plata.
Check in was a hassle, need to improve on that. Breakfast was not bad. It was actually pretty good, although it was limited on choices to drink. That hotel is in need of some serious maintenance. Very poorly maintained and outdated. Couldn't even take a hot shower, no hot water. In this day in age, no hot water is rediculous. I mean, common really? My wife got sick for taking cold showers. This is not a third world country any more, that was maybe 30 years ago. To me, it felt like that hotel would not be open much longer.
The location was downtown as I desired however the hotel has a courtyard in the middle of the hotel adjacent to a street where motorcycles speed down constantly. The courtyard doubles as a parking lot and every vehicle and motorcycle driving in or out creates lots of noise that bounces between all the enclosed walls. The staff were friendly however several of them seem not to concerned about the quiet aspect of a guests comfort and many yell across the balconies which is horrible for sleeping.
Danièle is exceptionally helpful, friendly, and welcoming. She goes out of her way to answer any questions you might have, both before and after you have arrived. I arrived in the afternoon of Christmas Eve. She gathered some solo travelers from the hotel and took us for a drive and walk around town. Then she managed to find one of the few restaurants that were open, where we all had a lovely meal together. The hotel is very cozy and homey, with a large rooftop, a terrace, and a garden.
We spent 6 nights at Royal Terrace (3 more than originally booked). Our apartment was very comfortable, well-equipped, and tastefully decorated. Our welcoming and considerate hosts, Hector and Marta made sure we had everything we needed. In fact, Hector drove to 'rescue' us when we accidentally arrived at the wrong address; this was our error... there is more than one Calle 6 in that part of Puerto Plata, so be careful if using Google Maps to guide you.
First of all there working the most amazing people we met in Dominican Republic. Super friendly, super helpful, always smiling .
Good food, good drinks
Great location. You are staying in the pool surrounded by mountains. That's a wow effect. And is close to the center of Puerto plato , which is also big plus.
According to availability they gave us room right away when we arrived ( around 1pm) . We had beautiful ocean view.
Everything was great, the hosts are really great! When you arrive, just ask at the pharmacy, the owners work there, so it's easy... both are very happy to help. Hector speaks very good English and responded directly to any question on WhatsApp, including what to do in town. Maria speaks Spanish, she is very, very cordial and because of me she spoke very slowly so that I could understand everything with my poor Spanish
It's all Inclusive hotel but we could feel the privacy in the rooms as they a little houses in the palm wood. I loved that as was green, quiet and could hear birds chirping. I could see an ocean from my balcony. Beach is beautiful, long and clean. Staff was very helpful and nice.
The hotel is close to the beach so that is a plus I like that. my room was large enough and the bed was not bad at all. the hotel location is very good and well placed I will give a Kudo to that .
Hotel is amazing as always. Due to covid situation more space available for own enjoyment, but not lacking anywhere. Restaurant, location, cleanliness, the team all deserve a big congratulations.
Overall the location of the hotel was nice. It was centrally located within the entire complex and closer to the beach than any of the others I've ever stayed in while at Playa Dorada.
The hotel was located close to the historical center and excursion possibilities. It also had different pools so you could go and relax where you wanted.
