Grand Hyatt Athens, hotel in Athens

Grand Hyatt Athens, opened in August 2018, boasts a brand new spa, atrium pool & bar and a rooftop with stunning views over the Acropolis.

The reception stuff who without welcome by mistake confirmed wrong amount of days, tried to charge additional extra £300.00 for deposit on top of the fix fee for the hotel. What else could go wrong?

Selina Athens Theatrou, hotel in Athens

Boasting a bar and a roof-top terrace, Selina Athens Theatrou is situated in Athens, 500 metres from National Theatre of Greece and 800 metres from Monastiraki Square.

To be honest, there was not much to like - except for the friendly staff. The location (meaning: the rooftop with the sight of the Acropolis) is really great. Staff were friendly, but could not help us at all (noise/music every evening until 11 pm). After the music ended, we heard the whole crowd running down the stairs. When coming down to mention the noise of the first night, they offered us ear plugs.

FAQs about hotels in Athens

A Dynamic City with 3400 Years of History

With the Acropolis as the jewel in the archaeological crown of Athens, this city is full of history whilst embracing the future. Take a stroll back in time through the neoclassical streets of the Plaka, where you will find tavernas serving tantalising souvlaki and mousaka, street vendors and live entertainment.

A trip to the Parthenon and the Agora top most lists and can also be appreciated from a distance by walking along the Dionysiou Aeropagitou street, which is away from the busy crowds downtown.

Changing the guard occurs every hour on the famous Syntagma Square. From here Ermou Street provides shopaholics with a fashionable retail sanctuary. The up-market districts of Kolonaki and Kifisia are also bursting with fancy boutiques, galleries and bars.

Athens contains some of the finest museums in the world such as the National Archaeological, Acropolis and Benaki Museums. From Athens International Airport to the Port of Piraeus, this is a city bustling with the old and new. On Booking.com you can find everything from modern hotels to a room in a classical building.

Athens is a fabulous city with very friendly people and delicious food at very reasonable prices. There are many places to eat with good quality food and prices to fit everyone's budget. Accommodation can be a little more expensive than some places, and generally, they do not have the best internet quality. It is a very walkable city and the subway system is easy to use. There are ancient architectural sites everywhere which are well looked after and well-organized!

Athens is a beautiful vibrant city with so much to see and do. The historical buildings, museums, parks, lovely squares, art and shopping. The food is amazing and there are lots of vegan places from street food to high end dining. The older areas are fascinating with the flea markets and street stalls. Very good budget places to stay right in the heart of the old city. Great transport options. I recommend a visit of 5 days minimum.

We stayed in Athens totally 3 days. 1 day on the way to Crete and 2 days on the way back from Crete. On the way back, the tourist season was started, and very busy every where. The famous spots were too crowded for us. 'No wait line' pre purchase tickets don't mean anything any more, and just had to wait to get in Acropolis. Athens airport staff shortage as well. Just check in, it took almost an hour. Prechecked in customers also had to wait on the same line for whatever the reason. That being said, the food was great. Most local people speak English and very helpful. So visiting low tourist season would be very nice place to visit. We visited in April.

The city contains what must be the most famous of archaeological sites in the world. The city is busy and crowded, but the people are welcoming and the food is incredible. We took a 3-hour walking food tour of the Plaka and had the best time, and the best food. Choose your location carefully, and it's walking distance to shops, restaurants, and historic sites. Bring your walking shoes!

Exceptional accommodation which exceeded our expectations. We both agreed that this was one of the best places we stayed during our visit to Greece. Clean, comfortable, spacious, fantastic view of the acropolis, and the host left very clear and friendly instructions. She was also easy to communicate with. Apartment was also in a great location with Hadrian's Library just next door, with shops and restaurants just downstairs (no issues with noise though). We wished we could stay longer. Definitely our pick for our next visit to Athens!

This was such a terrific property that if we return to Greece, this will be our first choice in a place to stay. Norma, the host, is fantastic. She is a great communicator and did everything to make our stay fantastic. The apartment is well located and not more than 20 minutes from all the major sights. DO NOT RENT A CAR! Probably the best part of the apartment is the terrace. After a long day of sight seeing, relaxing on the covered terrace with a bottle (or 3) of wine was pure heaven. if going to Athens, stay here!

All good things to say about Demetrios as a host and the location at Samou 10. We enjoyed a good breakfast every morning thanks to ample supplies in the fridge. He brought some spaghetti and sauce for our first night because our international flight arrived late. The last day he held our baggage for a few hours while we explored Athens. Great air conditioning units in the rooms and a nice balcony for breakfast. Overall, we loved our stay and felt very welcome in Greece.

Awesome in every way! The bed is so comfortable I never wanted to leave it! Everything was spotless! The studio has everything you might need for any kind of trip, the balcony is so spacious and the chairs are comfy. The walk-in shower is great, moving freely in the shower in Greece seems to be a problem, but not here. The host was so kind and accomodating! We'll definitely be back here for our next trips to Athens!

The staff went beyond my expectations. They took the time to explain me how to spend my 2 days in Athens best and where to have my laundry done. Also they have been the best in terms of (Covid) hygiene during my Greece trip (out of the 9 hotels i have visited so far). Finally, there is a decent supermarket next door where you can buy water and snacks for a nice price.
