A beautiful little Island just a short ferry trip from Athens with access to other Islands like Hydra.
Lot's of small shops, mini-marts, restaurants etc -plenty of choice to eat out.
Lovely walks - if you hire a car you can visit the main places in a day or two.

Poros is one of the most underrated islands of Greece, indeed. It's very small but beautiful, serene, calm , clean, quite and picturesque. Only 1hr 15minutes ferry travel from Piraeus port of Athens. There are lots of restaurants, caffe, supermarkets, shops. All types of food are available there including Greek food specially. People are welcoming, friendly and very generous. If needed laundry shops are there too. The clock tower is an added area where people can go see the entire island from bird's view. It's not so expensive like Mykonos and Santorini. But one can get the flavours of Santorini or Mykonos there. As a whole it's worth visiting Poros.

Calm, non touristy. Good food.
Calm, non touristy. Good food. Easy to walk or get a cab anywhere. We were off season (late September) and came by ferry for a few days break from Athens but have been before in high season in our yacht and it was good then too. Ate at Dimitris and Apagio Tavern, great meat and fish at the market, good coffee and lunch at clock cafe, good bakery and great ice cream and helpful pharmacy in the square by the meat and fish market.

Poros is an authentic, laidback Greek island, which also happens to be a major stop-off for yacht charters and flotillas. But, if you're not a yachtie, (we're not) they don't spoil the feel too much.
Only a few paces away from the yacht berths, you can find ouzeries where they still give you proper, free mezes with your drink, as you watch the old boys play backgammon and shoot the breeze. Or you can relax in more upmarket, restaurants and bars - but you've come to Greece, be more Greek! If you're in the square boasting Destino's Kafeneion, the locals' bar next door and Pavlou Shop which sells "plumbing fixtures, beach equipment and church supplies" you're in the right place.

Small but such a beautiful island!
Small but such a beautiful island! green and blue combination! Loved our walks down town at night with the great restaurants and the narrow streets up the hill to the tower Clock to watch the sunset.
We got there by car and took the ferry from Galatas (4-5 mins) to get across.
Favorite beach - "Love" Beach!!

Poros island is fabulous, the views are breathtaking and the geographical features are unique with many small bays and pine-trees that reach the coast. It is really near the Peloponnese peninsula and you can have small trips there e.g. going to Epidaurus or Methana. However, the island is small and the beaches are not sandy. It is worth visiting the capital and have lunch at its restaurants. The top restaurant, to my mind, is Poseidon.
It is easy to get around Poros mainly by taxi or by small boats.
Was not prepared as advertised. Booking said the pool would be open that weekend- the pool was not open, the hotel was a construction site with loud water blasting cleaning equipment, gardeners blowing - all loud, unkept, not the relaxing weekend we thought we had paid for. I never would have stayed if it said the pool was not open yet for the season! also, paid for a room with breakfast included — there was no breakfast and the staff was not bothered at all, didn’t care and basically told us go find our own food at the port. Just awful.
The receptionist was very friendly and helpful and gave us many tips about what to visit on the island. The room was very spacious, with many facilities, clean and great value for money . The biggest beach of the island is just a few steps away and has free umbrellas as well if you arrive early or late in the afternoon. The view was great even from the ground floor as the hotel is a bit uphill. Not far from the port and the main town, especially if you have your own vehicle. Highly recommended!
We loved to stay in Villa Dolphins! We felt very welcome to the hotel as the staff was super friendly. We had got recommendations from our friends to stay in Villa Dolphins; so we expected it to be a nice place, but it was more than that!
The location is peaceful and beautiful - and it’s close to everything you wish to do in Poros island. The room was also clean and spacious and we loved to end the nights by sitting on our own balcony. Would definitely stay there again!
An excellent choice to make if you looking for a place to stay in Poros!! Clean, comfortable, with all the necessary equipment (small fridge, towels etc), with incredible view, the owners were very kind and helpful giving us information for everything we wanted (roads, beaches, restaurants etc)! All in all we were very pleased with our choice to stay there, I already recommended it to friends and it will be our choice again if we visit Poros again in the future!!
I loved and absolutely enjoyed the stay. I am remembering my room number to come back and request for that particular room the next time. I remember it as magical experience, and would like to stay there for a week next time, as now it was just 1 night. It felt like a family resort, no fuss, just a minimalist relax. And the simplicity did not overpower the beauty of nature, which was abundant there at the hotel. Calm, beautiful, on your own.
Excellent location, very nice beach. Excellent helpful and friendly staff. Good breakfasts, good food. Two good pools. The view from the room is gorgeous. Our room had a terrace, very nice to sit there in the evening. It is very important that there was mosquito repellent in the room. You can also rent a car directly at the hotel at a good price.
Lovely family hotel. Very friendly and comfortable and laid back relaxing atmosphere. Good quiet location and nice views over the bay and to town. About 20 minutes stroll to the centre of Poros Town, where we went most evenings. Great selection at breakfast. Our room was very spacious and a huge amount of storage space.
A fantastic family run hotel in idyllic beach front location. Direct access to the sandy beach from the hotels verandas.
Brilliant views of the water and island.
large spotlessly clean rooms with modern bathroom and with good wifi.
Buffet breakfast was fine for 10e.
Poros is a lovely island.
Highly recommended
Our host Irene was brilliant, she gave us all the tips we needed for the weekend on the island and helped organise all transportation. The apartment was located in perfect proximity to everything in the centre which made getting around easy and convenient. The only place I will stay when ever I go back to Poros.
The location of the apartment was perfect, in a residential area secluded by trees on top of a slight hill but within 2 minutes' walk to the beach and restaurant/hotel area. A bit of a walk from the port - about 30 minutes, but it's only a 5 euro taxi ride if you're not in the mood to walk.
The people working in the hotel are very kind and always willing to help you with all means. Well done!!
The location of the hotel is the best on the island. The view from the restaurant's balcony is like a piece of art!.
The private beach of the hotel is wonderful!
Hotel Dimitra was perfect for our stay. It started with Joanna at check-in. Her recommendations for beaches and restaurants were “spot on.” The views were spectacular. Breakfast was lovely. Would definitely stay here on a return trip to Poros! Highly recommend!!
Excellent location, a 15 minute walk from the main part of the island of Poros. The room was clean. The bathroom was very spacious and clean, built in a way that doesn't let the water spill everywhere! The balcony was amazing, with a lot of room!
Great location, just 200 meters from Askeli beach and 2 km from Poros center. Beautiful terrace with sea view. The apartment is equipped with basic kitchen appliances and it is thoroughly cleaned everyday. The staff is nice and helpful
The hotel is at an excellent location. The view to the town of Poros is amazing. The beach has natural shade from pine trees in the sand! Good value for money. I think it s hard to find a better offering in the island overall.
The stuff was really polite and helpful. The reception guy gave us tips about the island and restaurant recommendations. The hotel is very cute and kept a traditional decoration.
We had an exceptional stay at Saga, thanks to the warm hospitality of the family who own and staff the hotel. They made our family feel very much at home.
