My favorite was hiking around with my dog, we mostly went to Strednica. The restaurants are good (my favorite was Zdiaranka and Stone Art Gallery café to enjoy the view and have good coffee or a glass of wine), there are several shops to buy food as well. I visited the local museum. I recommend going to Tree Top Walk in Bachledova Dolina, very interesting place.

Zdiar is a beautiful town, perfect for skiing, hiking and relaxing! It has everything you need, the people are very friendly and helpful although it would be a good idea to learn some basic Slovak just to get you by. Waking up in the high tatras mountains in a sight to behold! Numerous restaurants line the main street and there is an amazing pizza restaurant that sells great drinks too, looks like a museum inside wall to wall with Slovakia history gathered by the owner it is called Pizzeria Rustika. I would highly recommend a visit.

The destination offers interesting possibilities, it is right in the High Tatras, so you can go anywhere. Especially in Ždiar, however, the great attraction is the cable car above Bachledova dolina and the Walk in the Treetops and an all-day experience. Also, the location is beautiful just for ordinary light hiking - walking around the site without the need for a long hike.

Ždiar is mostly known for skiing in winter.

Ždiar is mostly known for skiing in winter. I was there in summer so the best attraction is Walking path high in the trees (chodník korunami stromov) - very nice and romantic walk in nature. Other than that there is nothing much, but you have other cities nearby like Tatranská Lomnica where you have plenty of good restaurants and small attractions. Close you have Belian cave which is a popular tourist place.

Ždiar is one of the last authentic Mountain villages in Slovakia, we enjoyed visiting all the small pubs and restaurants, owned by friendly locals. Nature is amazing all year, skiing possible in season. Great local food in Goralská krčma. Nice bed and breakfast at Penzion Enrico.

Lovely village built for the ski and hiking seasons. Pretty small but close to the main places worth a visit. We were at the Lomnicky stit, the Morskie Oko and Bachledka. We would loved to stay longer!!

The location is breath-taking, very beautiful part of Tatras. The owner enabled us to check-in early and upgraded our room when they found we´re travelling with a small child, so that we could have separate bathroom. We have ordered breakfast and were impressed by the creativity and amount of food we received - our child is a picky eater, but always ended up full of yummies. There is also closed garden with playground where we could leave the little one playing and drink coffee in the meanwhile.

Great location for exploring east Tatras and surroundings. Biking to Kezmarok takes no effort, as it is downhill all the time. Beware, you have to get back too! There are plenty of opportunities to eat out in Zdiar. The large apartment on the upper floor is very spacious - hall, bathroom, 3 separate bedrooms, kitchen and living room (one bedroom is accessible via kitchen, one via the living room, one directly from the hall). Kitchen is fully equipped (sans dishwasher). Friendly staff.

We came to visit Slovakia from Canada...and we loved our stay in Privat Bachleda, Ždiar. The accommodation was excellent, very clean and comfortable, with a superb view of the surrounding mountains. The host was very friendly, caring and helpful. I also appreciated and enjoyed the balcony with lovely flowers lavishly overflowing from the edge - so pretty and welcoming! We would love to come back anytime with no hesitations!

Probably the best area of Zdiar. Amazing panorama, quiet street. The main street is faar enough and well separated by the terrain, so you can hardle hear its traffic. The rooms and everything is clean and well maintained. The furnitures, paintings and everything in the house represent top quality and top design with consequent style and circumspect harmony. The staff is very nice and helpful.

We loved everything about this place. Absolutely spotless, cozy with amazing views of the mountains. It has small and large kitchen which was very practical. You can go for a nice walk through the village of Zdiar or continue further to hike to Monkova Dolina. Or you can reach other hikes. The family who knows the place is very friendly and happy to give any advice.

The hotel's attention to details is simply astonishing, every where you look you find something more. The spa is great, clean and has good options ranging from jacuzzi, steam room, saunas & even a salin room. Beds are comfortable and we had a pretty big balcony with views over the mountains. Breakfast has good options & we even had live piano which was amazing.

Already some time has past after our visit in this beautiful hotel, but we still remember the great experience. I do not know, why it is only 4star hotel, because I would give it 5 stars! We felt special! Thank You for great time in there! Our little furry friend (dog) also felt good and was welcome everywhere!

Staff were very nice and helpful. I left some stuff a few days before my check-in so I would not carry them around while trekking and there was no problem with that. The room was clean and comfortable, showers and toilets seemed very new and shiny. The hotel restaurant was very good.

Good chalet just outside Zdiar. You will need a car with decent winter tyres (in winter \ snow etc) as you pass over an earth bridge to get to the property which drops off to one side. Owner was helpful and spoke great English. No complaints and I would stay there again.
