Mindo has a lot of wonderful nature options. Feeding hummingbirds, the BEST butterfly gardens we have ever visited and we have been to many & really good bird watching - we used Sandra & Romelly at Bird Paradaisio (sp) & had alot of fun & Romelly drove us back safely to Quito but took us on an extra bird sighting trip on the way that was super - wonderful too! The trails to the waterfalls was a lot of fun & the falls are worth the trek although these out of shape older folks didn't make it to them all. The chocolate tour at Yumbos led by Amir was wonderful! We enjoyed both the tarabita & telerifico rides although the last was a bit scary, terrific views! Prices for everything was very reasonable, food may be a bit higher than rest of Ecuador but not too bad. Limited options though as most menus looked almost the same. One place we would definitely come back to. Only the food options were a little lacking. Everything else was fun & it was nice to be out of big cities.

Mindo has so many things to do.
Mindo has so many things to do. We took a ride on the cable car (Tabita) and then hiked to see the 5 waterfalls. We toured a butterfly house and took a coffee tour. The town is small so walking was the way to explore. We only needed a taxi to get to the hiking. Definitely take a truck taxi since the roads are rough and windy to get to the top. Our driver gave us his phone number to call him when were finished hiking. There are so many different restaurants to choose from and very good prices. We enjoyed our two night stay at the El Descanso where we saw so many tropical birds (especially hummingbirds) right off the back patio.

Mindo is a lovely little town, famous for chocolate, butterflies and waterfalls! Although there’s a lot of activities, you can get through most of them in 2 days, which makes it a great weekend travel destination.
Temperatures are usually mild due to it being in the clouds.

I've visited here twice, once in 2001 and the second time in 2023. I would say it has actually improved quite a lot in that time; the road into town is better, and the facilities in the area are much better. There are some much better restaurants and small cafes, and more "fun" activities available than there used to be. At the same time, the development hasn't been allowed to run rampant, so it still has the feel of a small town in the subtropics.
Location - Great. Breakfast - Adequate . . . but good for a hotel in Ecuador. They disappeared after the second cup of coffee (dyn-o-mite coffee) . . . keep it coming. Very pleasant deck with mountain view for breakfast or lounging. Shower - Good hot water. Need a shelf in the bathroom to put toiletries. Staff was great. Carried my bags in and out . . . asked us about when to clean the room . . . very clean.
Inti Mindo Hostel is a very special place in the nature. Mateo is a very friendly guy and he knows a lot about indigenes people and culture. He has good recommendations for trips, hostels and everything. If I would go again to Mindo, I would definitely go to Inti Hostel, because there I can relaxe and be myself. Thanks for everything and good success for your project and your personal future! Un abrazo... Benjamin
I had a lovely pavilion overlooking the pool which could be noisy in high season but since I had the resort pretty much to myself, it was perfect. The room had a fridge (my first in 3 weeks in Ecuador). I had a peep at the competition and concluded that Bambu was probably the best value for me. It is within walking distance of the butterfly farm. Wifi and Netflix work. They provided a driver from and to Quito.
Fantastic situation, it is at only 8 minutes walk from the village Mindo on a flat road.... In Mindo we could rent electric bikes and electric quads to get around.... The suites are surrounded of nature ans we were delighted of the colibris, toucans and colorful butterflies flying around us... the pool and the jacuzzi are very clean and pleasant.... the breakfast was very nice as well
The gardens at the hotel are amazing. Flowers everywhere. Layers of excellent gardening. It would be hard to find a better garden anywhere. And the birds! So many hummingbirds, tanagers, and other varieties. It is like the garden of Eden. There is a relaxing hammock spot that was nice while it rained. So much to love about this place and an easy walk to the town center.
Cozy bungalow wirh lovely covered porch and hammock. Comfortable beds and good shower.
Badic good breakfast and lovely setting. Quiet evenings, as it is a short (5 minutes maybe) stroll to the center of Mindo.
Would absolutely stay here again when we return to Mindo.
And they let us store our luggage after check out while we did one last hike. Much thanks!
Everything! It’s a beautiful room, in a great location. It’s only a 5 minute walk into town and you can get taxis anywhere you want to go. It’s so peaceful, and Ronny (the man who runs the hotel) is so friendly and helpful! We stayed for 5 nights and would have loved to stay longer! If you’re in doubt, go ahead and book it. You won’t be sorry!
Fantastic location overlooking the cloud forest. Our room had large floor to roof glass windows which was breathtaking. The entire staff was excellent and Washington - the chef + care taker was just great. We even did the tasting menu and Washington made all vegetarian Ecuadorian courses which was a treat
I would stay here again in a heartbeat…
This house was perfect and exceptionally beautiful. it had everything we needed plus more.
We extended our stay here in Mindo. The location was perfect to do and see everything.
The beds were comfy and the kitchen had everything we needed. The shower was nice and hot also.
The staff were very kind and helpful with everything we needed.
Very well managed. Maria, the manager is an exceptional host. She is very attentive to one's needs and proactive. She organized all my taxi needs and she knows the area very well. The grounds are stunning....topically lush. The pool is lovely and very private. If I ever return to Mindo, I will book the Mindo Real.
Gorgeous and spacious modern yet eclectic cabins, beautifully decorated. Nice jacuzzi and excellent pool. Zip line and swings included for free. Great fresh breakfast. Meticulous landscaping all around the hotel. Great for families or groups. Will return!
It was absolutely tranquil and peaceful and Asem and his wife were incredibly welcoming and kind from the moment we arrived. We felt very much at home here. The Syrian breakfast also hit the spot after weeks of Ecuadorian or American breakfasts!
This is a lovely hostel, a little off the main road which had me worried walking there at night alone, but actually mindo is a very safe place and it wasn't very far. Hummingbirds everywhere, beautiful house and a friendly atmosphere.
The hotel is new, modern and well equipped. Delicious breakfast with low cost. The staff provides 24 hours good services and very friendly. It has its own private parking and safe. It's the best hotel in Mindo that we have visited.
We stayed in a charming rustic cabin in a lovely setting on a peaceful creek, surrounded by sights and sounds of nature. Reminded me of being at summer camp. Within comfortable walking distance of quaint “downtown” Mindo.
Good hostel! The family is really nice and the rooms are good. A couple of hammocks and a kitchen with filtered water and a fridge. Few minutes away from the centre but Mindo is small anyway :)
This is a new gem in Mindo. Amazing view, peaceful sounds of water and frogs and amazing service and people. I have stayed at a lot places in Mindo but I will definitely come back here.
The area is super and invites to stay even longer. It is really quiet, always warm water and the staff was helpful. Everything is near as well. Perfect spot for Mindo.
We had a great stay at the Temple 1! It is a beautiful location and a well designed structure. We viewed several types of birds from the hotel including a toucan.
