This is the most unique place we have ever stayed.
This 250 year old hosteria/ hotel is an incredible experience.
We had a room in the oldest part of the hotel. The ambiance and detailing was superb. Our room had a seperate seating area with open fire , but alas it wasn’t cold enough to light but there is also in-wall heating and the room was super cozy. The bed sooo comfortable like sleeping on a cloud.
Even though its close to a main road once inside you would never know- it is totally quiet. We slept so well.
The whole hotel is full of the owners antique art and collectables. Its like a living Museum. You can take a tour with a staff member to hear about the history and impressive collection.
The restaurant food was very high standard. We particularly enjoyed the breakfast buffet.
We enjoyed an spa treatment and 2 hours in the wet spa area. The spa is absolute magical wonderland.
There is a courtyard with friendly rabbits and peacocks. A beautiful touch!
The staff were excellent in all regards.
We loved our stay!

I had a guide for hikes around Chimborazo. I was coming from sea level, so I was limited to less than 4000m for the first couple of days (and some people experience altitude symptoms at less than that). If I had stayed longer I could have done a couple interesting hikes on Chimborazo itself - I was fine after two days here.

Come to Riobamba if you want to climb/bike on Mt.
Come to Riobamba if you want to climb/bike on Mt. Chimborazo and/or visit the markets on Saturday. The downtown is interesting, worth a few hours, but does not cater to tourists. It is a city for Ecuadorians living their lives. The markets on Saturday are amazing. They are some of the most authentic, local markets we've visited. Very little for tourists, just real stuff for real Ecuadorians. If you are interested in climbing the mountain plan on time to get use to the altitude. Riobamba is a good base camp for a few days to begin this process.

I only wanted a bed for the night to break up a long bus trip, so didn't get to see much of the town at all. I'd like to have explored the architecture, and of course the mountains around the town are very impressive.

Riobamba is a good stepping off place to visit other small towns in the region. Sadly, all the churches were closed when I was there during the week I visited. This was disappointing. The city is very walkable and should you need a taxi or bus they are everywhere.

Riobamba is an attractive city that did not seem touristy.
Riobamba is an attractive city that did not seem touristy. We were very comfortable walking about downtown. The empanadas we had from a local restaurant were excellent and very inexpensive. Transportation was very easy, as taxis are everywhere and very cheap. I wouldn’t spend a week here, but we enjoyed it for a day or two, and it makes a great base for day trips in the High Sierra.
The staff was extraordinary. When we accidently broke the rear windshield of our rental car backing into a parking spot, the staff sprung into action: helping to clean up the mess, taping up the broken windshield, and communicating with the car rental company for us in Spanish to secure a replacement car. And this is besides the hotel itself -- clean comfortable modern rooms, excellent wifi and nice breakfast, all for a great price.
We loved everything about this place. The property is beautiful. The room was spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was well appointed with an excellent shower. The restaurant on the property was outstanding!! Breakfast was large and delicious. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. They even sent out for an item from a pharmacy that we needed urgently! This was our favorite hotel in Ecuador.
I loved this boutique hotel which was build in 1881. High ceilings give it a special elegance.
The rooms have modern flatscreen TV's with Netflix.
The common areas are great to relax and socialize.
Santiago is a wonderful person and does everything to make your stay comfortable.
The breakfast is great and the coffee is the best I had in Ecuador.
Extraordinary stay, everything was perfect.
The hotel is super nice and decorated with many wooden sculptures.
The employees were all extremely friendly and helpful with all our requests. The breakfast was delicious and freshly prepared every day.
Additionally, the hotel has a restaurant and offers a great selection of food.
The place is like staying at home! The staff is amazing! The promises are like a museum. They made me feel like a celebrity. Be ready to spend time taking pictures, the scenes around the hotel are breath taking. Best hotel I stayed in Ecuador so far, and I been on a one month trip all over the country. Thank you!
Nothing to say negatively about this place. We’ve been staying in many hostels/hotels over the last 4 weeks in Ecuador and this was one of the best for the budget traveller.
The staff were so friendly and kind, breakfast tasty, and the bedroom was clean and fresh. Bonus of Netflix too!
Thank you
We love Mansion Isabela and always stay there when I visit Riobamba. The rooms are so comfortable and the beds huge. It's decorated in a beautifully simple yet classic rustic style which makes you feel really at home. The staff are great and always willing to help with a smile!
We had a lovely room and lashes if hot water which after days at hotels where caliente meant lukewarm was absolutely brilliant. The hotel is far away from anything that would cause too much noise so we had a great night's sleep. The breakfast was OK. The parking worked fine.
The rooms are beautiful and well taken care of. Santiago is a wonderful host, he was very generous with advice about things to do Riobamba. The breakfast was great and we really appreciated being offered a to-go breakfast on a morning we had an early start at Chimborazo.
An overall amazing stay, fantastic small hotel. Great staff, new hotel facilities, comfortable, outstanding and daily varying breakfast. Especially Angelica was lovely and did everything to make our stay excellent. By far the best accommodation we had in Ecuador.
Everything. The family that runs it are wonderful people. The private rooms are nice and the dorms all have double beds. Breakfast is great, and everything is clean. By far my favorite Hostel in Ecuador.
classic exterior hides a super modern interior. large comfortable room and super helpful staff. single story hotel with excellent car parking facilities. great breakfast.
A good place to stay in the centre of Riobamba if doing any Chimborazo hiking nearby. Easy walk to main square and cafes, comfortable beds and a clean bathroom.
