Everything was great. Breakfast was very good, and the view and surrounding environment, beautiful. Of special note, and quite outstanding was the service provided by staff to promptly transport us 1/2 mile or so up and down the steep hill, to the main part of town and back. They also picked us up at the ferry, and then going back met us at the ferry with all of our luggage later in the day after we checked out.

Rooms were clean, beds were comfortable, and staff were very friendly. Everything is super close so nothing feels too far. Mini golf is just down the street along with a Vons. Would definitely stay here again.

Check in was quick and smooth, friendly and welcoming. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Love the little boutique hotel. The roof terrace with sofas was fabulous. We chilled there at the night and had lovely views of the surrounding area. Highly recommend

Very quaint small town with cute shops, restaurants, great views, and plenty to explore. Can be done on a budget, but the touristy activities will drain your wallet. Quiet town, but noisy and crowded when cruise ships pull up so plan accordingly.

Beautiful place to visit with lots of shops, restaurants, excursions and beaches. Be sure to book excursions in advance of your stay because the cruise ships stop here so most of the excursions get sold out in advance.

I loved the calm relaxing vibe.
I loved the calm relaxing vibe. It felt like a quaint sea side village from the past. Everything was very clean and the walking on the beach frontage or the walk to the casino were very pleasant for us seniors. I also saw young families with small children which appeared to be ideal for that phase of family life because the beach is so close. I hadn't been to Avalon for over 20 years and was extremely happy with the way it has evolved and the pleasant atmosphere. Enjoyed it very much, but if I come back with my young adult grand daughters, they would probably want to do more of the activities which are available.

Our observation of Avilon is that is evolving.
Our observation of Avilon is that is evolving. There are more small cars. The businesses seem to be sustainable and pretty much thriving, and all is a positive experience.
Catalina is a mere 27-30 miles from where we live in So CA, but it could be HI, South of France or Southern Italy.
I think, just go there with the intent of slowing down and enjoying slower time and removing yourself from the balance of hectic life elsewhere. It is a good place to relax.

We visited at start of January (still school holidays) and found reduced restaurant and shop options. Restaurants tended to close early.
Easy 1hour comfortable ferry crossing to island with Catalina Express from Long Beach. Saw dolphins en route.
Just few minutes walk to main town, shops, restaurants and many hotels from ferry terminal.
Plenty of walks, but hilly. Fabulous views & plants/wildlife. Mostly golf carts or bikes and limited cars/local mini bus to get around.
Easy access to public restrooms around Avalon.
Would visit spring onwards for future visit.

Avalon can be magical to visit for a couple of days.
Avalon can be magical to visit for a couple of days. Lots of activities, food options, and shopping. It's charming and beautiful. The M restaurant is one of my favorites, with good breakfast and lunch options. At dinner, it's a good Italian restaurant.
The location on the hill side is beautiful and the pools great. The golf cart ride up the hill is available about 50% of the time ask them about the stair case down to Avalon. It has a beautiful view and makes the walk a lot easier. It’s actually a lot closer to town than I had anticipated. The hotel is well done and modernized with great design. The staff was all very nice. It’s next to the bell tower on the island it’s a very quick walk there with a stunning view of the casino and surrounding area/harbor.
The hotel is perfectly situated in the heart of downtown so it was super easy to get to off the ferry. It is above a few shops but we had no issues with noise. It is right next to all of the best restaurants (I highly recommend Lobster trap). The room is small but cozy -its not like you are there to spend time in the room anyway. Recently updated bathroom was nice. We were there to celebrate my wife's birthday and they had flowers waiting in the room. Super friendly staff- highly recommend.
It was very good our trip is a modern and beautiful hotel, the rooms are not very large but they are beautiful, also the fact that the option to pay at the hotel is not available and you will be charged 3 days before to the card that you put that it is good to know before since the application does not explain it, and when you arrive at the stay you leave 300 dollars of deposit in case they do not have extra money consider it! Otherwise, everything is super! We liked it a lot!!
This hotel has an elevator, which was much appreciated as my husband has mobility issues. Few hotels on Catalina Island offer elevator access, I discovered. They also have a pool. 99% of the folks we encountered at this hotel were very nice, especially the shuttle drivers which took us into town and back multiple times. This hotel is somewhat off the beaten path, and it was nice we didn't have to hear folks partying all night long.
When I initially booked the room for the weekend of the Catalina Marathon, I was just trying to find a convenient room that could act as a decent meeting spot for family that was running in the event. Much to my surprise, I checked in and was treated to Suite 1 which was far more than I was expecting. The view from the balcony was amazing, and the little kitchenette ended up being perfect for the couple days I was on Avalon.
I loved the whole island, and the hotel and the staff were really wonderful
My only large complaint is that the website says it's handicapped accessible so I wasn't prepared at all for the complete uphill battle to get to our room, and then have to leave my wheelchair in the lobby. It's understandable and makes sense, but had I realized I would have booked a room closer to the bottom
The young staff were very sweet, helpful and efficient. The bison tours through the hotel were full, but Jaysea suggested the Catalina Conservancy tour, which did have space. We were delighted to be able to snag that tour, so thank you Jaysea! Claire and Tom were also super helpful!
Had a great time in Catalina staying at the Pavillon Hotel. We loved how centrally located it was. The grounds were green and lush. The courtyard was welcoming. The bonfire was the perfect spot to enjoy our Wine. Thank you!!
Friendly staff who gave good advice on local restaurants. A very nice hotel to spend time in - each floor had a well furnished balcony to relax and look out to sea. Good size bedroom with comfy bed and good shower.
I liked that the hotel was very clean. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The location was perfect, it was walking distance to everything. We definitely experienced a true Catalina Island stay.
Hotel location was great and this was the most affordable place on the island. We stayed here in 2018 and really enjoyed it as it was MUCH nicer then. After this visit I would not recommend.
close to everything! staff all very polite and helpful. very clean and bed very comfortable. it’s nice to stay in a hotel that has some character rather than a chain.
Fabulous hotel and very helpful staff, lovely room and fab location - the coffee and home made breakfast pastries are delicious - we are booked to return in July!
Great location! Two blocks from the beach. Three blocks from the Green Pleasure Pier. Two blocks from the best restaurant on the island, the Lobster Trap.
