The place had a slightly faded elegance with enough modern comforts to be very pleasant. Staff was friendly and helpful and I appreciated the cookies in the afternoon. Loved all the stained glass transoms and Victorian furniture.

Breakfast was advertised from 6:30 am
to 9:30 am. We went down around 9 am each
morning. Both mornings there was very little
food. Staff was putting what was out away.
We did mention this to the manager however
the cook refused to put out more food. He
Stated he had fed the snow boarders and skiers.
He was willing to cook more food if he was paid
to do so by us, the customers.

I am a clean freak and I found the hotel met my standards. The staff were friendly and helpful. Chef Ralph and his crew always had a great breakfast waiting and were very attentive to the guests. Overall a good experience. My wife and I would stay there again.

A newer La Quinta. They're more or less all the same. Can't go wrong with the newer ones but have to be very careful with the older ones. I guess it all depends on the management.

Durango was great. The riverwalk through the heart of town is great - watch out for bicycles though! If you drive 2-3 hours in any direction you can see some of the most beautiful places in the country. North into the San Juan Mountains, East through the mountains to Great Sand Dunes, West to Mesa Verde, Arches, Canyonlands, and Monument Valley, and South to Santa Fe.

I lived in the Durango area for several years and had to move away. This was another revisit. The main attraction is the railroad. I have taken the Cascade run and it is a wonderful experience. I believe Durango has a good mix of acitivites for young and old. There are so many great restaurants and children appear to be welcome. It is a tourist town, yet I have always found that customer service is great wherever I go. There are galleries and books stores and toy stores. There is so much history to glean with exciting stories of the settlers and the miners in the area. Then of course, the outdoor activities are year round and endless. The mountain views are topped only by the ones in Ouray and Silverton in this area.

Cost of living went through the roof during/after the pandemic. Durango is experiencing a housing crisis. Stunning location and close to beautiful country. Spirit of the town has changed dramatically over the years. Spirit of the mountains and surrounding area is naturally the same. The town feels kinda fake.

A nice town. Touristy, but nice.
A nice town. Touristy, but nice. Great Hotel, older, small rooms, but very nice. Very close to D&SNGRR depot, so very handy for us. Nice town, but, perhaps a bit pricey overall. But, we knew were on vacation, and we certainly enjoyed our stay.
Booking.com made several errors with my reservation, however, the hotel staff were very accommodating and managed to fix the mistakes, even though one room was more expensive and several rooms away. The rooms were nice and clean. Breakfast was okay. The staff was super!
Great looking historic hotel in perfect central location, and really fun olde time bar. Coffee was nice in the morning, and also jacuzzi after a long walk. Staff were friendly, a good choice for watching or catching the durango to Silverton steam train.
The location is right on the edge of downtown, excellent for someone who prefers to walk and explore their surroundings. It's also a 5 minute walk to the Durango and Silverton railroad, which was the primary reason for my visit, so it was perfect!
Building and rooms were clean and fresh - very new. Location was nice - just outside the hustle and bustle of downtown Durango. Though the power was out when we arrived, the staff did their best to get everyone checked in and setup.
We loved the location, great modern hotel in Durango, just a few minutes drive from the “downtown” Durango and close to everything. The rooms and hotel were updated and comfortable, like other Spring Hill suites we have stayed in.
You can tell it is an older property, but it is very well maintained and clean for its age. The room had been recently updated. Rooms were a comfortable size. Compared to prices at other hotels in Durango, this was a bargain.
Good breakfast choices! Fresh fruit. Even gluten-free items.
Comfortable beds, pillows, sheets.
Quiet on the river side of hotel.
Convenient for a walk along the river and downtown.
Secure, enclosed parking under the hotel.
Excellent location next to the steam railway depot - and that is a ride worth travelling from far to enjoy. Although not part of the hotel, there is an excellent Italian restaurant under the detached block of rooms.
Exceptional hosts! This is a fantastic place just a short ride from Durango downtown. Grounds are beautiful, lots of birds, hummingbirds in season at the feeders on deck. Jacuzzi...very homey and comfortable stay.
Wonderful location in Animas Valley with easy access to Durango and beautiful mountain road to Silverton. Very comfortable room. Excellent breakfasts. Very much enjoyed talking to hosts.
Easily accessible, smooth check in , great room and facilities . Perfect location for the Durango train . Complimentary breakfast was great as were the staff . Definitely recommend .
For a hotel in Durango, it could use some up-grading. Also, when a previous guest has a dog that poops on the carpet, it should be cleaned more thoroughly than it was.
The facilities were a bit tired, but the staff was amazing. Pool was nice. Happy hour was really nice, and the breakfast was much better than a typical hotel buffet.
