Good roads, easy to get around (no problems using gps maps) Saturday markets, fresh seafood, close to shopping centre. Our function was catered and the food was amazing. Short walk for evening swim at the beach.
Close to other townships eg: Katikati.

The CBD seems alright, can be explored on foot. The highlight of our trip was Mt Maunganui. The Mount Hotpools was wonderful (pricey though), beautiful tiles, water and view. And the stretch of the Maunganui beach was just beautiful. We picked one far away from the centre (and towards Papamoa) where there was lifeguard, and truly enjoyed the waves for hours. It a great place for families who love spending time in the open water.

It is a travel destination that I definitely want to visit at least once a year.
I would like to recommend that you climb Mount Manganui and take a hot spring bath in the salt springs.
I can't forget the size and taste of Copenhagen ice cream across from the salt springs.
Playing in the water or walking on the beach are healing points that cannot be missed.
Cost-effectiveness of accommodation is one of the most disappointing aspects of most travel destinations.

Beautiful looking place, great climate, but a lot of blatant racism. Lots of indigenous artwork around city was vandalised. A lot of scowls from people when speaking re reo Māori (even with basic greetings).

There are plenty of bars and places to eat, the city is pleasant enough although access to the harbour is limited and the whole place is overshadowed by its proximity to Mt Maunganui and its fabulous beaches.

Pod bach on Tweed, Tauranga – Updated 2024 Prices
A great bach to stay in one, road back from the beach while you are Tauranga. The mount walking distance. Immaculately presented, spotlessly clean and attention to detail. Refrigerator, toaster and microwave, kettle, coffee, tea, fresh milk, glasses plates and cutlery. …More
This has been our favourite overnight stay during our trip to the north island. Excellent accommodation, lovely hosts with lots of great information about the area and gave us tips on where to go once we left. Highly recommend this property. After staying in motels most of this trip my husband who is quite tall appreciated the shower, best shower he's had in 2 weeks 😄. Great location as well.
The view from the room of the sea and scenery was lovely, the weather was also perfect, which helps, the hotel was very close to The Strand in Tauranga and within walking distance if you wanted to head out in the evening. The bed was so comfortable and the air con was excellent. This hotel was also very clean and I would certainly come back here again.
great location on the water and two big kitchen/lounge areas which were balconies facing the lake. A very amiable place to hang out and enjoy the beauty of Tauranga and perhaps even make a friend or two. the place is older—even historic, perhaps—but seems well maintained. Staff member was EXTREMELY nice and helpful with directions to Mount Maunganui
We were made to feel most welcomed by all the staff we encountered. The decor is stunning, which always adds to the enjoyment of a hotel stay.
The location is within walking distance to all of Taurangas amenities.
The absolute highlight for us was the restaurant, the food was superb and the service was faultless
Very good accommodation for a one night stay over. .very clean, handy to the town center .and most reasonable price.

My husband and were in Tauranga for a wedding the same day we checked in the lovely lady at reception made sure there was a room for us to have for early check in at no extra cost to us. Top quality service
One block away from Tauranga's shopping and restaurant area with onsite parking. The owners were a very friendly couple, and upgraded us to a larger and more spacious room.
Te Harinui was a lovely stay! We thoroughly enjoyed the peace and quiet. The view, service and accommodation were well worth the money and 20 minute journey into Tauranga.
A very nice greeting and then shown to the room an told us information of the area we asked. Room looked like new and I am in construction and do a lot motels / hotels.
Friendly staff, very clean, own private thermal pool was amazing.
Price we paid was very cheap so were not expecting alot.
Good value for what we paid.
