Famous for its museums, most important of which are located in the Museumplein, Amsterdam offers you a chance to see unforgettable masterpieces by Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Mondriaan and more. The Anne Frank House is a sobering reminder of the city’s more recent history. After a lot of walking, the Rijksmuseum is a great place to rest and get some extra culture before visiting Amsterdam’s lovely Vondelpark.

The medieval Old Centre with the always busy Dam Square and the tempting Red Light District is the most visited part of Amsterdam. Make sure to stop at Leidseplein and Rembrandtplein, homes to the best nightlife venues.

Shop till you drop at Amsterdam’s most luxury shopping street, PC Hooftstraat, the most popular street market at Albert Cuyp or in the fancy design shops of the Jordaan district. Famous pancakes and frites with mayonnaise are a must-try! The more adventurous traveller might want to try the pickled herring, followed closely by a local beer.

Amsterdam is a fantastic city to explore in the Netherlands. With trains running 20 hrs a day, you can get almost everywhere pretty reasonable. I spent 9 days, was able to visit 4 cities. Great food, great shopping! City felt very safe. Great day trips to numerous cities from Amsterdam.

Old, historic city with lots of canals and waterways.

Old, historic city with lots of canals and waterways. Easiest way around is walking. Lots of historic buildings and museums to see in the central city area. Train from/to airport to central city terminal is inexpensive, and easy to figure out. People are extremely friendly, and most speak English. Many, many people walking around and viewing the central city, especially around central train station and streets nearby. Not easy to find a restroom, and when you do, there's a lineup, and you have to pay to get in - interesting. Credit or debit cards seems to be the best payment methods.

An excellent European destination with world class museums, restaurants, and tourist activities (canal cruise, Keukenhof Gardens at tulip time, rijstaffel dinner, shopping). City seemed safe at night for walking. Cleanliness level is medium. Costs level also medium. Getting around by Uber was very easy. What to avoid: summer crowds, not getting reservations well in advance.

Amsterdam Museums well worth a visit , public transport is great, use the 9292 app to give you details where/ when next tram/ bus or train will be. Van Gogh Museum can ONLY be booked in advance and at least 4 weeks in advance. Well worth a visit. Amsterdam can be a noisy & busy city but a lot to do and safe. Leiden 30 min by train from Amsterdam was a lot more quaint and peaceful with a windmills, museums and great restaurants.

Mine was a business trip - so not much time to enjoy the great cosmopolitan feel of the south city area. Been there many times before - great compact city - lots to do, new and old. 1m people - 750k bicycles so beware - they don't stop! Trams, rail and Uber all good. Would always recommend a trip to Amsterdam!

    A great city to visit!

A great city to visit! People were most helpful and friendly, especially as I was over 80 and a solo traveller! It was my first visit to Amsterdam and I felt very comfortable there. I visited some great sights like Keukenhof, Anne Frank House, Ruiksmuseum, Jewish Museum and Synagogue, Flowermarket(to buy cheap tulip bulbs), all very interesting ! of course also a canal tour which was a bit spoilt by rainy weather. Certainly like to go back sometime as Van Gogh Museum you have to book at least 6 weeks in advance!

Hotel Alexander is situated in a quiet street just off the city center of Amsterdam, so it’s great for a peaceful night of sleep away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Everything is walkable in 15-20 minutes and there are tons of great food and shopping options close by. The rooms are tastefully decorated and comfortable, and so is the lobby/lounge which is absolutely stunning. Free tea and coffee all day, and every staff member was very warm and helpful. Will definitely stay here again!

This is an exceptional property (villa) with an incredibly friendly and professional young staff. The attached restaurant and bar are a great added benefit as well. As a bonus there is a small (free) parking lot adjacent to the villa. This is by far the best value and quality of accommodations you will find in Amsterdam.......and it's only a short 1.5 mile walk to the city center. We took inexpensive Uber rides or walked so we could fully enjoy the pubs and coffee shops of Amsterdam!

Dont go expecting a 5 star hotel, it is what it is, a decent budget hotel.. The location is great and the rooms are tidy. I go to Amsterdam regularly for cheap break for a night or 2 with a few pals and we generally stay in the budget hotels, this is one of the best budget hotels in the main area. I must say for the price this is excellent value for money. Don't get me wrong I wouldn't take my wife to this hotel but its ideal for a cheap break on a budget.

The Inntel City Centre is within walking distance of Amsterdam Central station and also within walking distance of many of the attractions Amsterdam has to offer. It's a downtown city centre hotel, and they don't come cheap, so be prepared for that. There are lots of places to eat nearby and the included breakfast had lots of choice for both hot and cold food. Overall it was good location, clean, comfortable.

I loved the country side feeling of the hotel, another experience from city centre, which I had also tried during the stay in Amsterdam. Got a bar called Moxy there, the manager and staff there were very helpful. Very chill atmosphere. Got a laundry room, free to use. The view there from the room or building was great, wonderful sea view. Besides, the breakfast was okay, but gotta wake up early.

Location is just outside of the Amsterdam city centre, but easily accessible by trains, trams and buses. For the price of this amazing hotel, compared to the hostels we were finding in the city centre for slightly more, we decided to stay here and did not regret it. The hotel is really beautiful!. Motel One Amsterdam is a hotel for people that just need a clean room with a bed, a bath room and nothing more. If you know this in advance, it´s a very good place to stay. The hotel is not in the city center, but next to train and subway stations, so that you are really fast in the center. There is a supermarket almost next to the hotel.
